Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I think we would all love to see Jack play 100 games. It is more sentiment than logic, unless there are injuries or poor form from the current group. It's a tough business and the club has suddenly developed a tough take no prisoners attitude after decades of decay. So after watching the shambles of those decades, Northey and Daniher years excepted, I want to continue to see this tough new attitude predominate both on field and off field, like the top clubs. No-one can be gifted games. The sad reality is that there are great blokes who will not have their dreams and hopes realized and that they will be either depth players or end up playing elsewhere. I love Jack but I think that the nature of our new club means that his window of opportunity has passed unless we have injuries or form problems. No doubt we will, so Jack probably will deserve a game. However, he will not be with us next year when you look at the development list.

Sorry H disagree. I think the club is duty bound to get him to 100 games if he is anywhere near the required AFL level (which he is) and believe there is still a place for this sort of approach in the game.

Footy will never be just business and it simply cannot be forgotten what he has given to this club. They'll get him those two games and i will be proud of the club when they do.

Fantastic.

Jack will get to his 100th by games on merit. He was very close last week.

It is very clear that with our new found dynamic talent inclusions such as Wagner and Hunt, new found depth with visibly more strings to their bow down back and - Jetta being as solid as can be - that Jack has found it hard to crack into the team.

Added to that the arrival of Melksham to the list and you can see the lay of the land.

As is the case with most if not all teams, in the second half of the season, players will need a refresher or rest for niggles, some sent off to surgery in prep for the Pre-Season. Jack hasn't played his last game with Melbfc - I have no doubt.

Well said binman, love your honesty, integrity and heart. I am only half the man you are. Perhaps I am just getting old and impatient and although I love Jack I also love the young kids and what I see happening to our great club. But your point is well made.

Am glad i searched a bit before posting, this sums up how i feel. He has given enough for two more games at least. Reckon its delicate if they plan on letting him go but on balance i think the respect it would show to the player would sit well with the team.

Whilst not having played this year, he's been emergency almost every week which suggests he's right on the cusp of the best 22. Will get the 2 games this year. Either way. would not be surprised at all if he's kept on as very handy depth player going forwards.

History shows this year that players don't get dropped after being elevated to the seniors (1 exception Stretch, R3). Given he's close to a call up, and we've got another trip to the NT after the break where we should rest some younger players, I'm confident the club will get him to 100 games before years end, as they should. I'm not confident, however, that he'll still be with us next year.

With Melksham to come, Hibberd being chased, Salem Garland and HL injured and youngsters doing well and Grimes not getting a game despite good form, it is pretty likely he will want to move on at the end of th season.

Can see him in yellow and black with his brother.

Agree- my thoughts exactly....but to some degree, as you have stated- the club has let him down badly..they at least owe him two games..

Poor form Ethan you are so much better than that.

I don't mind Grimes, I actually want to see him get a game, but it's clear his time at the MFC is over.

It's well known Richmond are welcoming to other clubs unwanted players.

He's 27, but there is no reason why he cant improve his game. Bernie Vince has taken his game to new levels in recent times so I don't think it should be a case of trade out grimes just because he isn't a instant best 22 player in 2016. All clubs need depth and Grimes is sold and reliable if not slightly flawed.

Hoping he plays this weekend and plays well

I think he should play the required matches against teams we're almost certain to lose against anyway. His stronger body would also make it a better fit against those teams. Sunday,s match is a case in point, particularly as it will be heavy going.

It's funny how people automatically think because his brother is at Richmond he'll go there. He's more likely to go somewhere else, IMO. Richmond have a number of his type anyway. They don't need to be sentimental with him and neither do we to be frank.

I agree with that, I would add that I don't think Hardwick will be there next year, I think Richmond will move on him, they will obviously have to pay him out but if they don't they will lose members, not for ever but they will walk and only come back after a change is made.

He signed a three year extension this year, he will be coaching Richmond next season.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
