I wouldn't want to pay overs but I think North would be interested in one of our surplus mids.

As as for Daw himself I've always had a feeling he would eventually click and become a genuine player with some real X factor. Nothing suggests otherwise in his time ON the field anyway. Tall, lightning fast, developing forward/ruck that seems quite coachable. If Brown hadn't come on the way he had he would have 15 odd more games under his belt for sure. I'd love for this to happen for us.

Acceptable trades IMHO;

Straight second Rd pick

Hunt (Lumumba to replace)

Salem with a pick to go our way (purely as Melksham is to come in next year)

Kent (small forwards are overflowing)

ANB (he is too talented to fall behind Trenners once he returns)

I'd love not to lose any players but that's not logical going forward and I've tried to be realistic in what it would cost to get him here. ANB, Kent and Hunt might need pick exchanges to come into play as well to get the balance right. Thoughts?

Daw won't make it, he hasn't got the footy smarts, gets lost too much, there is no way we will pick him up, wouldn't be surpriized if he was delisted at end of year

So we aren't looking for a forward/ ruck at the moment? It's not a hole in our impressive depth?

No we're not hopefully    Max King is still developing,  although at this stage he is stiil a way off   Mitch King will be built in brain and body whilst he is off legs   Pedersen Dawes Frost       Hulett will be an absolute beasr when he grows up   could make a useful back up   and then we have Pencil      Daw is like Jurrah   a good news story that will end in tears   he doesn't dominate at VFL level eithet

Good question re Hulett - looks to be a physical beast.....has anyone seen if he can ruck?

I haven't seen him do it, but this is from the Western Australian on draft night:

5.50pm

PICKS 46-50

PICK 46: MELBOURNE
LIAM HULETT
Dandenong Stingrays
17/3/97, 193cm, 90kg
AFL says: A 193cm utility whose top-up year in the TAC Cup was cruelled by an ankle injury that restricted him to just two outings for the Dandenong Stingrays this year. He played mainly for his local club at Bonbeach, but the recruiters were intrigued enough to ask that he play in the Young Guns game last August. Usually a ruck/forward, he played at centre half-back and showed promise running the ball out of the backline.

I liked Daw before he was even drafted. I think his development has been muffed somewhat at Nth but some account must also be take note by Majak himself.

Still find him interesting but I think he's not now of much use on our list. Probably get another home somewhere. I hear Punt Rd is shopping

Hopefully not looking based on Max King maybe developing in a few years and a few others who either can't ruck or play forward convincingly let alone both? Your allegiance to the individual players in the squad is extraordinary. And Jurrah is a freakishly good natural footballer who dominated frequently when he played. Nothing like Daw.

How about this, a forward/ruckman 200cm 103kg out of contact at the end of the season, has some form, Mitch Clark. Howls of derision anyone? He'd be cheap.

He only has 17 games at 25 because he started late at football and he has Goldy ahead of him.

Reasonable choice I would think.

Does OK at VFL level.

Started late? He played 2 years of TAC cup before being rookie listed.

Mason Cox at Collingwood started late and is already better than him.

he has minority marketing value and that's about it

This idea cannot be real

Did i take LSD last night??

Wow Let's trade our young midfield players for Majak Daw...

Yeah right. A guy who plays one game a year for one quarter...

Need is there. I'd prefer to consider Vardy or Rhys Stanley at Geelong, particularly if Clark gets fit then they may be available.  Not sure what we could offer Geelong though who don't appear to have many weaknesses.  Maybe 2nd rounder so they can boost youth.

No.

Why would we want a guy who truly can't play at the highest level. He does a few good things but will never be a very good player.

PFFT Daw??...  a tall man's Toumpas!

The Pies need a half-back or two due to injury while we're fairly flush in this regard and could do with a forward who can ruck. Maybe we could sort a three-way deal for Lumumba to Collingwood, Varcoe to Geelong, and Clarke to us in return?
