Take it from me it is on the money I wont go into personal details But I have been aware of it for some time.  I had some posts regarding it removed from the thread.

Thanks 'Pennant', I trust your posts...until now I wasn't sure what to believe with this situation.

Mark is one of life's gentlemen.  I remember visiting his video store in Brighton a decade ago when he was going through a less challenging time, but challenging nonetheless.  A genuinely nice man.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

From the AFL website:

He also said he was confident of retaining young key forward Jesse Hogan, who is contracted until the end of 2017.

The club is keen to extend Hogan's contract and are hopeful talks will resume after they were put on hold until the end of this season.

"Jesse's management and the club said that they would look at it at the end of the year. We are now at the end of the year," Goodwin said.

"One thing I do know about Jesse is he loves his teammates, he loves playing with this club and I have got a really strong relationship with Jesse.

"Our focus is to make Jesse the best player. He still has 12 months to go in his contract and I know we are going to work really hard to retain Jesse and we are really confident that he wants to be a part of Melbourne."

I think these are the most promising comments we have heard thus far regarding Jesse's contract. I'm now more hopeful he will stay.

Thanks for the updates GNF. It makes reading through all the carp on some of these threads worthwhile.

I know exactly what you are going through. I wish you all the best. The Life of special people is sometimes way too short. 12 years ago today I lost the best wife and mother anyone could wish for.

Last line is:

The Demons are also confident of retaining Jesse Hogan, who is out of contract at the end of 2017.

 so lets chill.

And all the best Markc

I'd feel more confident if the highlighted line wasn't included. If it's a foregone conclusion that he'll re-sign, the club wouldn't have to work really hard to retain him.

I try not to care about the problems of others. Particularly anonymous others over an internet site, but posts like this make it bloody tough.

Feel for you mate. Deeply in fact. Hope your kids remember her in a way that befits your memory of her. Must have been tough for them as well as you.

It wasn't my intention to take sympathy away from markc. Just trying to give support to someone with similar situation. But yes it is hard especially for the kids.

I can see that you were not attention seeking mate. I paid my respects to Markc also.

I can only imagine how I would feel if I was sitting here on the anniversary of losing my wife, and it terrifies me.

I hope you and your kids are ok today.

And to you and your family.

So many of us just don't know what others are going through in their daily lives.

To some losing a footy match is as big as it gets. Pales into insignificance when we think of what you have gone through and what Mark is going through.

All the very best to both of you and your families.

Anyone who has or is living with a Family member who is terminal Ill can understand this

I take each day as it comes , I don't make plans  far in advance , for myself and my kids , our time with my wife ( their mother) is especially special to us ,

I couldn't imagine living states apart and having this happen.

Time to give the Kid ago , think about how you would feel watching , hearing , seeing someone so close , being that ILL

My wife tells us to go out , to enjoy ourselves, to be a family , as I am sure his dad would tell him to follow his dreams , play AFL, these things put a smile on my wife's face

for her to see us happy, makes her happy . I am not saying everyone is the same. but you need to understand how they and he could feel.

hoping my words will help some people understand what he COULD be going through , sometimes things are greater than our club.

As one of his sponsors I want him to stay but can understand otherwise, football would be one of the last things on his mind at the moment

mark

ps on a side note iI thank Demonland for being here, its keeps me busy

Thank you for sharing Mark. Can't begin to imagine how difficult that situation must be for all of you. Many thoughts for you and your family.

Don't apologize, it's nice to see the Demonland family getting around one if their own...beats the usual family bickering!

FWIW I'd be surprised if the club weren't giving Jesse all of the time (off) and space he needs. His welfare needs to be the priority, and if the clubs culture has turned around as much as I think, the footy club would be pretty unified in that position.

He has 10 weeks off in Perth FWIW.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
