If that were really true then we would have been able to lure more players to the club over the last few years. If rumours are correct we offered Danger almost twice as much as Geelong paid him. The hawks consistently pay unders when they get players.

I also don't think players want to be viewed as " going for the money" either. Ok the "go home" factor with Hogan could be big and legitimate ( I hope not though!)  but seems like "the most persuasive factors" are team success, training facilities, how close knit the group are and the perceived quality of the coaches.

Do I want Hogan to stay? Yes. At any price? No. We are heading down the road of top clubs that have to try and keep all their stars or emerging stars yet balance the books. Given the professional nature of the game and particularly player managers and indeed the attitude of the players, and in Hogans case, the go home factor a la Scott Thompson of the Crows, I think that if the Freo deal is big enough, Hogan will go. Team success and mateship is one thing but these days the dollar is the single most persuasive factor. I will be deeply disappointed if he goes but also philosophical about it and who can blame the player. Money and family comes before the club. One set of mates is replaced by another set of mates. We need to get used to the idea that we are going to lose some of our players this way. That's why the on-going task of recruiting and developing players becomes so important. Like other successful clubs, if you develop a champion team, the loss of a star becomes less important ( Franklin and Dangerfield).

Any price for me, this hulk is our future

I want Fyfe and a first rounder...plus some more

Let's not forget that Fyfe is coming back from 2 broken legs and by all accounts is a very serious injury. The latest one has broken just above the new plate which was inserted to fix the first break.

We would want to be very careful if something were to transpire with Freo.

How about we just keep Hoges! We want to win a premiership don't we?

Yes loges he will be seen in Real Estate offices, having coffee with the Freo president and looking at business opportunities in the West.

I doubt he will have time to visit his family.

Freo would never trade Fyfe.  It is ridiculous to think this would ever happen. He is in the top 3 players in the comp

Oh God!  I didn't even think of that - can see Barrett dusting off his comouflage gear and night-vision goggles as we speak!

May be a good opportunity to take Demonland offline for site maintenance for a couple of weeks.

Hopefully he drives into his parents driveway with their new car, courtesy of AHG, as a present for his 5 year extension with the Dees

Unless you're an expert, lip reading can be a very dangerous pastime.

If you read my lips now then you would think I was saying that "he is trucking load of pool kits".... when in fact I am saying something completely different.

Yes and if JH did actually day something to a Lions player, he might have said they better not show me up as the bunny - referring to Freo of course.  By the way Stretch, is that a lisp you have?

Actually I saw this shot too and thought the same thing when it seemed like the Brisbane player asked him a question, I'm not a lip reader so I don't know what he said. But it seemed like a shake of the head and a 'naah mate' - So was the question "are you staying?" or "are you leaving" - Do we have any backofthehead readers?

Watching the pre-game on foxfooty David King was interviewing a pre-recorded segment with Jack Watts. They were hitting golf balls at Albert Park Driving Range and King asked him if the great man (Hogan) has been around to his place. Wattsy laughed and said he's around all the time and it's sickening to watch the lovey-dovey carry on with him and i assume a girlfriend. I don't know whether it's Jack's sister or someone else, however it inferred Hogan was smitten and always coming around to Jacks.

When he has DubDee there will be a new thread title " Hogan signs for three more years"

Stay calm until you see that thread.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
