Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

The Hird Interviews

If Hird really wanted the truth to come out then he would submit himself to being interviewed by an impartial person.

Of course we never expected this to happen and he has gone to a couple of his greatest apologists.

I get the Robbo connection but can anyone tell me where Holmes comes into the mix? Is she an EFC supporter? Is she close to Hird?

And not in a court of law where the defence can cross-examine and point out his blatant lies and contradictions. He's very considerate, that Jimmy!

In any event,  I've got as much interest in this interview as I have in contracting chlamydia.

So Hird's approach, according to the hun is apparently that "they" (his coaching team -never solely himself, of course) had a "sliding doors" moment in picking the team team to conduct the supplements programme. Their team-of-choice was not available until May, and so they went on to select Mark Robinson and Dank to run it.

Seems all framed to once again take the responsibility off him and place it at the feet of others. He put the right "process in place", it was others who abused the process.

This guy is an absolute joke. It's just such a shame. Even if he had done the hounorable thing, he sure isn't doing it now.

The AFL is also a disgrace. It's response to this has shown that it is the puppet of corporate agendas and not, as it once was, the expression of supporter passion and symbol of what positive role sport can play in a society. Thank you, A. Demetriou, for throwing our game into the flames. You [censored] arse hole.

I would support taking the game back off these pricks. [censored] them.

I want to see this....

Jim & Tracey to sing a duet at the end. They take turns singing verses. Towards the end of the song a  third voice can be heard joining in. Who is it? Jobe walks on with a mic. It's him. Arm in arm, the three sing together. But more voices are heard too. Heppel comes on, Hurley ... all the 34. They finish the song together with a group hug and a rousing chorus.

The song dies away into sudden silence. At one end of the stage is Ben McDevitt. Staring at Hird. No one moves. Great Jim says nothing but holds one hand aloft calling for calm. Then extends the hand to McDevitt. McDevitt rushes forward, seizes it, shakes it, and falls to his knees sobbing.

Jim then calls forward a very special guest. Climbing out of the audience is Dank. Tears are streaming down his cheeks. Hird puts his hand on Dank's forehead and says "begone evil!". Dank falls backwards on to the ground shouting "I'm -- I'm cured! I'm ... good again!"

Then proceed a series of bows and ovations like at the end of a stage show. Tracey presents Jim with a huge bouquet. Everyone's clapping and crying. All looking up at the peaceful benign face of Jim. The haters have lost.

Typical Hird.  It was Robinson & Dank's fault and it was Bomber & Maccas fault that we hired them.

Don't blame me!  Gee, how hard is it to say, 'Yeah I fu)ked up!' .  I say it on a daily basis.  If it weren't for that I don't know how I'd get through my day at work! :)

Macca wasn't even there in 2012!!  He was coach of the Bulldogs.

Hird seems so obsessed by his own imaginings he has lost sight of even the most basic facts!

I'm not going to waste my time either reading the HUN or watching that interview.  But from the above accounts of Hird blaming everyone but himself  I'd say he is paying with fire.  If he alienates someone in the know, that person may blow the whistle and reveal all just to get back at him. Here's hoping.

Agree Sue and once cracks start to appear within the 34 which they inevitably will, we will start to get the details of what really happened.

Maybe when he agrees to be interviewed by a real interviewer and not some orchestrated fluff piece with prearranged soft questions , people might listen.

Until then, shut the [censored] up James, you are a parasite and dont belong anywhere near any sport.

James Hird 28th Aug 2013  "There were things that went on that shouldn't have happened last year. As senior coach I have to take some responsibility for what happened and not doing more to stop it."

Hird the hypocrite.

is there any one at Essendon he didn't just push under the bus?

That is why he is now friendless (except with lawyers!)

Tim Watson said this week he no longer has contact with Hird.  If Tim has jumped off the band wagon there could hardly be anyone of note left on it.

It would be a diabolical slap in the face to Essendon stalwarts/greats (David Evans, Tim Watson, Jobe Watson, Bomber Thompson et al) if Tanner repeats his invitation to Hird to come back into the fold.

It was Dean Robinson, not Mark Robinson, not that it mattered.

I can't wait to hear Hird speak about the ethical position of coaches who refuse to accept responsibility and are constantly passing the buck.

Do you expect that question to asked WJ?

I have not read it ( I have refuse to now listen or read anything he puts out ) so I guess asking the next question then makes me a hypocrite but does he mention anything about "the Records"

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
