Yeah, I never actually understood why people seriously started microwaving membership cards to show displeasure.

Richmond Supporters. Don't bother trying to understand them...

The "microwaving" story arose after a Richmond member in a fit of pique following a standard Richmond performance (which would be sub-standard for most clubs) claimed on talkback radio that he was going to "tear up his membership" only to be embarrassed when it was explained that "tearing up" hard plastic would be a physical impossibility.

Just purchased two memberships. Don't let me down on Sunday night or they'll be getting sent straight back, slightly melted (I wont really send them back, I don't have a mullet haircut).

As an MFC/MCC member it's still pretty poor we struggle to get 40,000 members I understand the last decade by the club has been horrible, but considering we have a decent following from the MCC members who aren't MFC members is a joke.

I thought it was only Richmond members who participate in the above microwaving practice. I assumed they all have mullets.

A new record wont impress me, but 40k will...   and we might just get there

The record was set in the heyday of Jim Stynes presidency.  We have been to hell and back and membetship collapsed to 30,372 for 2013.  Since then a lot of anonymous people at our club have worked tirelessly to get members back on board. They include staff, volunteers, players and coaches manning phones etc

Yes 40,000 will be fantastic but in the meantime a new record is an extraordinary achievement for our club. Worth celebrating every milestone i reckon - on and off the field.

I appreciate that this is somewhat off-topic, and I didn't see it myself, but apparently David King pulled off a good sight gag last week during the half time break in the West Coat v Tigers game when he walked past the cameras carrying a microwave.

With a bit of luck (and Demonlanders spreading the word), it would be very disappointing if there wasn't an announcement on the scoreboard at the Saints match that we have reached 40,000. If we are now above 36,647, l should expect that we we will reach the current record prior to the Richmond match on Sunday evening and if we beat the Tigers and Saints maybe even the residual reticent MCC members will feel embarrassed by their lack of a 2016 MFC scarf.

Yes thats fair enough..  we were dead and buried a few years ago..I guess I was just thinking in terms of the membership rising along with population growth so a new record wouldn't be that impressiv, but it really is,considering we have been worse than Fitzroy (on the field) in recent years

Hats off to the membership department and volunteers

I'm sure you enjoyed your moment over him in the 1990 elimination final!

Do pet memberships count? Or is it only game access memberships?

We don't count per memberships. Armchair memberships count along with the game access memberships.

I don't think there is any point preaching to the Demonland nutbags, as I'm sure everyone here is a member.... But if you're not, sign up! It's time for new records of the positive kind.

While my very expensive membership sits quietly at home waiting for my return, I'm glad the money is going to a club that now seems at least somewhat more in control of their sh!t. It's not wasted money like it was a few years ago.

Is the club taking advantage of the wonderful opportunity to attract more members through women's football and particularly the publicity generated by the brilliant Daisy Pearce?

I both agree and disagree Jaded.  If us hard-core Demons had failed to stick fat during the dark times, there may not have been any sh!t left to get under control, so it can be regarded money well spent! .......... and as a consequence of our loyalty and die-hard attitude, the Football Gods will soon compensate us for the unprecedented and 'never-to-be-repeated', pain and suffering we have been forced to endure.  It will need to be a bountiful feast!

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
