Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The Jack Trengove is BACK Thread

Guys, as an interstate dees fan I have long been an admirer of Jack trengove. Seems every time I see the Casey results he is in best players. Anyone know why he isn't getting a run, especially with all these injuries??

This is just a hypothetical here so bear with me, but....

We know JT is a FA this year and has the option of walking come seasons end. And, whilst most of us agree that the previous month has presented as the most fertile period for Jack to get a trot given the injuries and consecutive 6 day breaks, the club has not taken that opportunity.

We are all miffed but are we over-looking the most obvious reason some players do not get played?

Has Trengove already played his hand and told the club he's leaving at seasons end? I could then understand the resistance from Goodwin to play him at all this year.

Plausible?

I think it's more likely Goodwin just doesn't see a spot for him, I thought he'd get a run last week with our injuries.

Trenners has some interests outside footy that I am sure the club will make sure he's getting into for the end of the season when he walks away.

Goodwin has said he doesn't really look at 'outside' and 'inside' mids but expects players to be both - hence Billy bundled back to the 2's to work on his inside-craft. If he doesn't think Trenners has the capacity to effectively spread from the contest, then the idea of selecting him for the hard-ball in the middle won't be enough. And that's why so-called 'NQRs' like Harmes and ANB are selected ahead - hard at the contest and hard on the spread.

I'm starting 2 get annoyed with Goodwin he plays NQRs like JKH, Bugg etc.. but doesn't want 2 give Trenners a go.

Educated risks.

Has also played Hannan, stuck with Harmes, ANB, McDonald, Frost.  Has taken a punt on Smith.

You can't exactly encourage bravery and high risk, high reward football and then be a fuddy duddy with selections.

I think McQueen might be on the right track.

Thanks guys, some good points (as well as some why bother rubbish -really- if you don't want to participate or just do a snide remark, do yourself and ourselves a favour and say nothing)- I'm sure he probably is leaving, whether he goes anywhere is another point- the outside inside argument is valid, but you do have to question it a bit-where would hawthorn be without tom Mitchell currently-total inside mid. Could also argue that Lewis is an inside mid only too.

ps I updated the spelling

I would like to add another perspetite.

Vince and Lewis have only another year or two left each. Jack is still only about 24. He has a solid year of football under his belt and his body has held up well and his form has been terrific.

Rather than using good picks and lots of cash to replace those two, Jack is already part of our culture and on our list. He would be ideal to step in to their roles.

While I suspect he is already on the bus to Adelaide, I think we should be going all out to keep him. There are not many 24 year old previous captains with engines and courage like Jack's for the picking.

Agree.  But might as well start a sentence by saying "if the earth was flat".  Nev.... miss a spoil...... pfffft.

Let it go for gods sake people... How many different was does it need to be spelled out for people HE IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH ANYMORE. Goodwin has to come up with some excuse he's not going to say "oh he's too slow, he doesn't fit into our game style or best 22"

It's sad and unfortunate that it's turned out this way for Jack but he's time at Melbourne is up. People comparing him to Petracca, Viney, Jones & Tyson in previous posts is ludicrous Petracca actually has a bit of dash and the rest aren't quick but their not slow like Trengove.. People sooking about Smith getting a game ahead of him, maybe because Smith is a long term prospect and has athleticism & agility and a future unlike Trengove... I hate to be shooting Bambi here but people need to get over it. He's finished. Done. Also people saying he maybe moving as FA or he's trade bait, no chance he gets a go at another club...

Both Vince and Lewis won B&F at their clubs - Trengove hasn't even come close to that. Perhaps he could have if his body hadn't let him down.

Trengove's future lies in coaching, not in being a fringe player at an AFL club. I suspect he'll play out his career at a lower level - SANFL is the obvious candidate - where he'll eventually captain a team (again), and then move into coaching.

Hopefully there is a good chance that Jack Trengove will play this week against Port Adelaide.

Especially with Bernie Vince now suspended for 2 weeks for his silly misdemeanor.

I openly admit to being a bit of a Jack Trengove fan so fingers-crossed he DOES play this week?

We believe in you Jack! I hope you play on Saturday at the MCG and prove all those doubters wrong!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
