Presumably old chap you mean "in front of whom"?

Answer : in front of whomever his form warrants.

Absolutely nobody knows what his form will be in the pressure of an AFL / VFL match, but I am getting sick and tired of people saying that he has no hope at all.

Surely he deserves to be shown respect for his hard work and efforts, and bast wishes, not the incessant negativity by some on this forum.

Are you sure that was his choice, or something he was prepared to do reluctantly?

I don't know what happened behind the scenes, but if the club offered him up and preferred not to give him a contract, then he may have agreed to go because of limited options.

We may have decided that we could get Laverde with 12 or some other player and that it was better, than keeping a seriously injured player.

Until we know the facts surrounding the mooted deal, it is all speculation and we shouldn't be suggesting that he was walking out on us.

Im a big fan of Trengove and once he puts a solid block of training and game time in I'm sure he'll prove a lot of people wrong.

The guy has to much pride and professionalism to not succeed.

As a modern footballer you have to be versatile and I think he will play in a range of positions HB, on ball, HF

The shroud of negativity is finally lifting from our beloved football club I think Trenners embodies that.

Finally I see some great depth in our midfield and club and to have Jack & Trac waiting in the wings is damn exciting

I'm sure it was said by him it WASN'T his choice at all. I believe he said something along the lines of he loves the club but he won't block the trade.

Ha, we are getting short of whipping boys I guess. At least Godders et al are behind us if we are worried about JT being a list hog.

Go Dees

this suggests the criticism wasn't justified. over the last 2 seasons...  of certain players not performing & still in the side.

Its not as if the player not chasing or contesting,  only had one leg or something.  or was heartless?

But its great that  'those'  players are now seeming to put in.

Interesting speculation of the interpretation,

"I don't know what happened behind the scenes, but if the club offered him up and preferred not to give him a contract, then he may have agreed to go because of limited options."  Line!

Given we are a much better outfit now are not those options even more limited?

I was mainly concerned that JT shouldn't be labelled as WANTING to leave, but rather he may have been given limited options, in that he may not have been offered a contract.

As I said, I didn't know the full story. However, your post suggested he as a former MFC Captain, wanted to walk out on us. My limited info suggests that was not the case.

Even if we have a better outfit now, he is still on the list and therefore has a chance to again make the team. He could not have done that with us, if we were forcing him out.

That was what I got out of your post as well Pickett Fence, that were suggesting he was wanting out of the club when in fact it was the opposite.

You are probably correct in that his position has been usurped since his injury and he will face a tough battle to get into the 22. This is a good thing as it means we have progressed as a club. Not great for Jack but I can guarantee you he will give it his best crack at it and may actually surprise us.

Well on so many levels I'll buy in,

1 Dont patronise me with your  last Btw, "I don't expect any of this information to resonate with you, as I'm aware of how you roll.  I've done it more for others who may be interested" and if its not patronising then belittle at your cost!

2 You pull out James Hird as contrast and hnmm well I realy really hate to say it given his current History , but guess what? James Hird was Twice if not Three times the footballer that Trengove was!

3 If you are going to role model after injury pick someone like "Ultra White Knight" Jonathan Brown! NOW HERE IS A PLAYER WHO HAS COME BACK FROM LIFE THREATENING INJURIES!

4 Jack Trengove was all but signed sealed and delivered to Punt Rd! Just think about that for a minute!! ,,,,,, a MFC Capt who wanted to go to the Tiges!!!!

5 Loyalty is a transient and two way thing!

6 And just to set the record straight I deal in reality!!  It would be a great thing for the MFC if IF Jack Trngove gets back on the park!

My issue is and always will be a) can he? and b) will he be able to give the selectors reason to pick him??

I wait with bated Breath!!??

Mate, you have no idea what you're talking about... MFC were the ones who threw that trade out there because they desperately wanted Jake Lever, knew they'd have to give up something significant to get a pick like that. i don't think it's fair to say Jack wasn't/ isn't loyal and this isn't a reflection of a good leader.

multiple "great"  captains have considered moves to other clubs.

So back to Trenners, I hope you Melbourne based folk are going to get out to his VFL practice game against Box Hill on April 2nd.

Anyone know where it'll be played? I couldn't find it.

It's actually very disappointing to see that this thread has turned into another $hitfight and pi$$ing contest from some regular offenders -_-

I am sitting here patiently, like many on here, just waiting for the day that Jack gets back to doing what he loves most.... Playing Football!

I will no longer be reading this thread as it has turned into another boring battle of bone heads...

I have just wasted several minutes of my life*, minutes that I will never recover, in the now obviously naïve belief that, given the thread title, I would find some up to date news about Jack's progress towards, hopefully, playing again for MFC.

Of course I should have known better.

It is time for the moderators to get a large red Texta and delete those thoroughly boring personal feuds

*and a few more composing this rant.

I'll try to get down there for a look, I'll be stoked to see him out there.

And here we have the injury list from the AFL official site.  Something that we're all aware of, but is beautiful to actually see for the first time in two years... No Jack Trengove.

Go Trenners!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
