Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Mate my memory is likes sieve at the best of times, let alone sleepless due to 4 month old.

Have just looked up some of his draft stuff and noted as a dual sided kick. Nothing to see here...

fair enough, lol. my memory (and it is definitely a sieve at times) is that he preferred his right foot in general play but was no slouch on his left but only if he had to use it

Jack Trengove looked to be comfortably in the best 22 yesterday. I was trying to be objective but his clean hands and foot(!)  and his fast leads were very good and his professionalism in training shone.

Are you serious? He couldn't compete in contested work, as he is still early in his rehab from a major foot injury, yet you have him comfortably in our best 22, WOW !

I didnt see him doing the contested work. I did see him working as a forward. I said that in the other thread.

Well surely Franky, you are not trying to belittle the rest of the squad, by suggesting that a bloke who has been injured for 2 years, is not yet fully fit and hasn't done any contested work, could "comfortably" be in our best 22 then.

I saw plenty of Jack Watts dialing in his training and C Salem and Tyson not hitting targets. I didnt want to speak about it because Salem gets a pass but Watts wont change. I saw complacency from coaches and players but I cant comment because I hadnt gone to any other training and may have missed something. I saw Watts get the opportunity to take a good pack mark and he pulled up. I dont think that supporters need to hear that.

I saw Trengove act like one of the best forwards on the field and thats my stated interest. I also said that I may be over stating how good he looked. I will say he may get a guernsey before the Trucc who was half hearted and not hitting targets at kick to kick. He is happy as Jack.

I only want to belittle the glad handlers like yourself who wow way too easily.

Funnily enough I seem recall a post from years ago (maybe from when he was drafted) showing photos of Jack kicking on both feet (obviously not at the same time!) Comment was made that he was comfortable on both feet.

Your post shows exactly why people are tiring of Demonland.

Someone questions a post and gets insulted in return.

You call me a glad handler. I didn't resort to personal insults on your post. That is your response to someone who questioned your post, about Trengove being comfortably in the best 22, after some light training.

The way I see it...

If Trengove makes it back and by "make it back" I mean fully fit and injury free and able to play at a sustained level of play in accordance with his abilities pre-injury, then there's no doubt he's best 22.  None whatsoever.

Will he "make it back" from this injury?

Notwithstanding his terrific inroads, there's still doubt.

yes there is doubt, considerable doubt in fact

if he can achieve it, and most of us hope he will, it will be a magnificent achievement against the odds

so far, he is ticking off the boxes one by one, so fingers crossed

I see the ability to kick on his left foot as only a small objective in his recovery. As anyone who's played the game knows, your feet get stood on, fallen on and kicked quite a bit - particularly when you're playing on the ball.

I tend to think that's going to pose a greater obstacle and obviously we won't know until he plays competition footy.

For this reason, could they develop a boot or guard that would provide protection from point loading causes by being stepped /stomped on?

May be overkill,  but after what he's been through I'd do everything i could to protect it.

Was he kicking on his left at all? to be totally honest i know it's not good at AFL level to be one sided but i'd be pretty happy for him to have a 90-10 ratio towards his right foot in an effort to protect his left a little more.

I am no biomechanics expert, but doesn't the non-kicking foot also get subjected to significant stresses when the ball is kicked?  Perhaps less sudden  impact, but certainly takes stress and torsion when bearing the full weight.

It's a fair question.

For once people are not overly excited about a first round pick (Clayton Oliver) debut.

This was always the main talk of the topic around the Bailey and Neeld years if i remember.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
