Aspley just had their second player picked up in this draft by Richmond, pretty impressive outcome for their system

When a team makes a grand final all the recruiters get to see them in a pressure game I suspect

Posted

Kicks left footed, bounces right handed and seems to favour handpassing RH. From 2 minutes of highlights looks like the new AvDB

Looked very composed with good skills and a good decision maker.

Here are his highlights.

Looks good with clean hands, neat kick and accelerates quickly in close which I like a lot.

thanks

probably a silly statement, but in many ways he reminds me of hodge

On Parish to Oliver I daresay you mean...

That's interesting if not a little disconcerting that they would decide so late.......I guess Parish raised some of the same questions with the recruiters that have been raised here. Lightly framed versus big body ready to go.

The Classic Wines vs. Toumpas argument (proving that the FD does listen to Demonland)!

Wow pretty impressive. Good big body, can take a mark, can lay a good tackle and every single kick on that video was to a target. Not one kick was a long bomb. Now its a highlights package but a pretty good one.

Has a side step and good vision as well.

I love that sidestep and kick at 1:07 in the highlights.

I thought the same, particularly when he was in the similarly coloured jumper.

I can't be bothered going through the clip again, but did he ever use his right foot to kick? If not, I wonder whether he kicks OK with that one, too.

Thought the same. Moves very similar. Not quick, strong through the the hips, neat left foot kick. Has a similar gait to Hodge. If he is 1/4 the player then not a bad rookie pick.

Good kick, can mark overhead, can tackle... eh happy with that.

Wagner seems composed and could inspire us to rule the whole world.

25 min before the draft started. Impressive???

Thought you guys would like that

We also only changed our minds on Oliver from Parish on Monday night

Thank you for the heads up.

May I ask who the main driver behind the Oliver decision / influence was? e.g. who was the man to promote / back him: Taylor, Viney, Roos, Goodwin, etc.?

Yep - concur with the Hodge comparisons - takes the hits as needed to release the next bloke, seems that good things happen along the chain when he gets the pill. Looks a decent pick up. Whether he will take the step up to the big league is the question, but the video looks good

Wagner looks the goods! Classy left foot kick hopefully he can make the step up.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
