I get the admiration for Harmes but I don't think he's going to be the surprise packet let alone a regular 22 next season unless we're hard hit by injuries again.

The kid has some tools and passion for the jumper so he's going to be a favourite but he's only just been elevated off the rookie list. Instead of Jordie Mac, Bail, Riley and Michie as competition for spots he's going to have Grimes, B Kennedy, Hunt, Newton and Bugg.

He's got a job in front of him.

Wish him the best.

My surprise packet for 2016 IMO, will be competitiveness, & combativeness. ferocity at the ball & the contest.

any fuscias, tall poppies, or what ever other flowers growing out there, to be slashed down on the spot. ours or they're s.

The way he finished 2015 and the improvement he showed all year Jack Viney for mine.

The AFL industry as a group don't rate him as much more than C grader, think he will continue on the right path and become an elite AFL midfielder

C grader? I think he is highly rated in AFL circles. More than a C grader, surely PStD.

Must admit, i know a few guys at other clubs who wouldn't mind him coming across, he, Gus, Tmac and Hogan seem to be pretty well respected already.

Its amazing with limited pre-season in his first year what ANB did. With a full pre-season and the reduced rotations I suspect he will play most of the year and really step up another level.

Apart from BRYZA stating the obvious (good work), Big Red F E is, hopefully, onto something.

I think Dom Tyson will have a great year this year......Over all the niggling injuries and on track for a better year than '14..'15

Those three are intriguing, as they are all capable of being top 10 players in 2016.

That most have them borderline top 22 should act as a spur for them to have a huge preseason and hit the season hard.

Perhaps this will be another benefit of all this young talent blossoming...

... the old talent are shamed into pulling their fingers out! :)

Dawes, Lumumba and Watts to go nuts and rip up the opposition

If Watts, Dawes and Lumuba all begin to "rip up the opposition" then it would be safe to assume that Norm Smith's curse has left the building

To be honest, the one I really want is The Demons. I'd be thrilled if they turned out to be the big surprise packet of 2016.

Could be, BUT I have to periodically remind myself to come back down to earth. It is always the case that we build ourselves up between the months of september and march, but I can't forget how disappointed I was in our performances after the Geelong win. In those last 9 matches we were pretty bloody awful for about 7 of them. I left at half time a couple of games because I simply could not stand it. Just keepin' it real.

My smoky is Max Gawn.
The packet will not be surprising as they are all that horrible olive color so as not to attract the kiddies.

After a long and exhaustive consideration of this issue I've decided Billy Stretch is going to be my favourite player this year (which really hurts cos I love Jack Viney) so he is the one.

Uses the ball so well, works really hard and has been a passionate Demon supporter for life. He's living the dream. Ripping bloke, no tickets on himself, popular and respected amongst the playing group and coaches.

Get the ball 20 to 25 times a game Billy and you'll write your own history.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
