  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Why don't we vote for who is going to be the biggest disappointment! Any takers

Jeez we're a depressed bunch on here enough of the time without that. AND That theme runs through just about every thread thats created lol. I dont think we need a dedicated thread for it.

I won't say disappointment but I hope we don't try and play Frost, McDonald, Dunn and Garland in the same side and I think Garland will miss out.

I am adamant that Frost will play 3rd tall/ruck and it makes perfect sense to keep the rest in a reasonably settled backline. Any major injuries and Frost can be used in defence but he will play as a forward especially to start with that's for sure

This is a real stiff call considering he really has only played one AFL game and got caught out 3-4 times in complete no mans land resulting in opposition goals. Whilst he definitely gave a great showing of himself, Grimes is still ahead of him and rightly so seeing as a long term injury is the only way he will be getting a game and it is unlikely the club will promote him ahead of Viv Michie.

Grimes problem is he doesn't have the core strength to be able to stand up in a contest and assert control over a disputed ball. Too often he is caught doesn't haven't have the physicality to force the contest in melbournes favor. I love his courage though and occasionally does some fantastic stuff

Id rather Grimes doing the 1% 'ers and stuffing up the kick occasionally, than Harry O doing SFA hard stuff, getting the ball on the cheap, and then running like hell and bombing it to the other team. Like he does every fricken time

Id rather they both don't play and have Salem and Melksham on the back flanks.

The sub rule should never have got past the pre-season testing stage but what's done is done and it's finally been scrapped.

Getting a game actually meaning you get a game is the way it should've always been.

Guys like ANB and JKH I can see thriving in the post-sub football world. Neal-Bullen in particular.

Jayden Hunt. The kid has talent (and jet-boosters). He just needs a run at it, and that's (finally) looking likely.

And.

Though not at all a surprise, i expect Jack Watts will have a very good year.

One of the factors that make Jesse Hogan so extraordinary is that he did not take the usual 4–6 years to come-on.

The haters tend to forget that Jack Watts was drafted as a skinny 196cm 17-year-old. They still treat him as a messiah, albeit a fallen one.

God save poor Sam Weideman from rediculous expectations.

:)

Having reviewed this thread. with a nomination for both Hunt AND Watts (arguably the two biggest surprise packets of 2016 along with Gawn's dominance), I declare @wretched.sylph the winner of the 2016 Crystal Ball ;)

Christian Salem to play 22 games and remind everyone how talented he is and how big an impact he can have

Clayton Oliver to have a Patty Cripps-like second year and go very close to taking out the Bluey ( no pressure clarry )

Joel Smith to play 5-10 games in the seniors.

Jack Trengove to come back in ripping shape and re-establish himself as a long term prospect for the MFC

Jumped the gun Abe, save that for the 2017 thread.

Srsly.

Salem, Oliver, Brayshaw, Petracca, Weed have only shown glimpses of what is yet to be untapped.

Then there's the further improvement in consistency of performance from Viney, Tyson, Hogan, Watts, Hunt and Gawn.

Trengove could potentially be a new recruit if he can bullet proof his body and add some real power in the off-season.

Lewis, Hibberd and Melksham as new recruits. All senior players. One of them a a genuine champion player.

The change is monumental when one considers that only a few years ago the excitement and potential for improvement was largely based around a couple of high end draft picks.

The potential for us to make mega strides is now real. The list is teaming with young talent and the majority of it comprise of players who are within a year or two of each other. One of several ingredients that will boost our chances to win that elusive flag.

Clearly we've made it through the eye of the storm and all I can see now is clear blue skies and unearthly cherub beings fluttering about in front of me.

The momentum that the Hogan and Lewis signings have brought should not be underestimated in any way. The club is now seriously building.

I'm going to take a cold shower.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
