A few drafts back I thought Stringer could be the pick of his year, Wines has probably been the most consistent but Stringer is on track.

Who will it be this year??? I have a feeling it could be Francis but it's not as strong a feeling as I had for Stringer.

We really had to nail those picks and I thought the risk on Stringer with injury was too much. We'd got Hogan and Viney by that stage so I didn't think we needed a star as much as a sure thing. I liked Toumpas, Macrae and Wines and I still like the Toump. Unfortunately we just had the wrong environment for him and combined with some short falls from him we just couldn't get him developing.

It's still early days and we can't have a complete bust but I think it's a better time to go for the absolute stars and the games Oliver, Weideman and even Milera have played at their best show me star power.

Francis might be the safest pick in the draft in terms of playing 150 games. I couldn't be upset by picking him, but at this stage I see more Jared Rivers from him than Brendon Goddard.

Just a quick question to all those out there. I will be stuck in a meeting until around 9.00pm tonight, what is the best way to keep up with the goings on at tonights draft via mobile?

After totally stuffing up with taking Toumpas over Wines, if we don't take Oliver I will go absolutely Ape Droppings if we overlook a bloke who I believe will be a sensational player for years to come!

Please Dees don't be blindsided by small framed lighly built types!

I liked these players too 'George' and was happy we took Toump at the time, I just had a feeling about Stringer.

I think there might be a fair bit of upside left with Francis that hasn't been fully tapped yet, I don't see him as just a 3rd tall defender.

AFL app should have a live tracker of each pick.

Otherwise twitter.

Well ive come to my determination that pick 3 will be Oliver..maverick left field choice i know...it's how I roll

Got absolutely no idea now about 7. Could be one of about 4 and even then they'll pick the 5th.

If it is the Oliver/Weed scenario , well done to those choosing it.

I hope his foot is sorted if that's our direction.

The latter picks really intrigue me. We will after all have 4 new players as of this evening.

Well. Welcome aboard 3 and 7, whoever you are :)

Go Dees

Go you good Mr Taylor

Hibberd, i think he is the best mid in the draft and he will probably end up at Hawthorn

i cannot wait until this draft thing is over.. last night i dreamt about it  and yes, i recall who we took for those interested..... OLIVER & HIBBERD.

as everyone has done, i have jumped around a bit with who i think the dees will take. it is an insane process, but a good filler of time in the off-season. last week i came to the conclusion that it was PARISH & H. McKAY. however, today i am thinking we might take FRANCIS at 7 if available.. there's no way we won't take PARISH at 3. he fulfils too many boxes of what we are missing as a team. getting McKAY will mean we get one of the best young KPP's into our system early to develop out at casey. if we manage to nab FRANCIS (essendon might go OLIVER & WEIDEMAN/MILERA), then we will have a mature, adaptable character that can potentially play anywhere on the ground (and not in a HOWE kinda way)..

I've been very vocal in my preference to take Parish, but as it sits i'd be pretty surprised if it's not Oliver.

Oliver and Francis/Weiderman/ Parish

Shows the change in professionalism at the MFC.

In former times, we'd already have interviews with Parish or Oliver on the official website saying 'welcome to the club'. Here's our future saviour.

It's reassuring that today we have players off the current list coming out with their predictions of who is going to make an impression for the club in 2016. Petracca was a popular pick. Pleasing that the focus is very much on existing assets. These picks should be viewed as a bonus. I'm confident they will be strong additions to the group whoever they might end up being.

I'm actually going to be a bit surprised if we don't take Oliver. I think having him and Petracca (assuming they both come on as we hope) rotating as forwards / mids with big bodies can only be a good thing for us. Throw in Kent and VDB we can have fresh skilled and tough players rotating all day.

Its good there has been no leaks. We really have no idea as to who we will take at 3.

Yeah it makes the draft worth watching more than any other year I can recall. It will be a real game of cat and mouse . Will be pretty exciting to see who we call at pick 3 and then what the Bombers do at the next two picks.

We have no idea do we? Our opinions change and we guess, Parish Curnow now Oliver, we are guided by the media, gladly the club have the right people in place. I wonder what they think about the media beat ups, it would be entertaining to know. Tonight we will have 4 new players, I hope at least two become stars. Go dees.

Was that the video where Lamumba nominated himself as the player to look out for in 2016?

I just watched that. He ruins anything I watch when he's in it.

I don't mind that, as its his way of acknowledging his woeful performance in 2015.

I actually liked the way he picks himself. He obviously knows he had bit of a shocker this year and believes he can play substantially better. There is no reason why he can't become a key member of an up and coming Melbourne side. He did come 3rd in the Collingwood B &F the year he left.

But the thing I absolutely love about that video was how pretty much everyone was picking Petracca. There is a fair bit of genuine excitement surrounding him. Next year could be the funnest year to be a Melbourne supporter in a long time

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
