All accounts have Parish as the best mid.

We need mids, so no brainer on Parish for pick 3.

I like what i hear, that he's a tough, inside/outside mid who tackles and is lippy... I even like his prince charming locks, shows he not affected by others opinions of him, is confident in himself.

Pick 7 I'm not fussed between the various options, as my confidence in the FDs ability to nail this pick has risen markedly the past couple of years, I believe they'll nail this pick and have most likely all four of our preferred draft targets, subject to variables. The fact they stretched to minimise the variables in the first 7 picks indicates they know who they want... Which I like the feel of.

For some stupid reason I have reservations on Parish. Mainly due to the trend of bigger mids and some of the comments on this site. I'm hoping we get both right as these hopefully will be our last top 10 picks for a while. Just pick best avaialble and let's be 100% confident if we select players that have had injury interrupted seasons.

Your reservations can be attributed to past failings, but I've come to realise we must judge draftees on their individual merits.

Plus all we have to go by are YouTube highlights. Trust the processes.

Picks schmicks.

Pretty happy with the Kennedy, Bugg and Milkshake acquisitions though.

I hope we take Francis at pick 3 and Oliver at pick 7.

Oliver at pick 7 would be defying logic if either Weideman or Curnow were available and we selected the best available (parish?) at pick 3!

Clayton Oliver

Oliver Wines.

I want a forward and an outside running player as well.

But at the same time I really like this kid. Wouldn't surprise me if he went top ten. He looks like a bull. Carlton would love to pair him with Cripps I think. Essendon should consider their future post Jobe Watson.

I like how he plays, he looks skillful albeit without polish but he's the type of player that I can see excelling once he gets stronger and fitter for AFL.

Also, he looks quick and I don't mean as a runner just the way he plays is quick and with urgency.

What if Carlton or Brisbane select their own "Jordan Gysberts".

Are there 2 lock- ins better than Parish?

Mids available apart from Academy selections.......probably not.

Though picks 1 & 2 are universally believed to be Weitering then Schache. But there's not a chance in hell either 2 will be available.

Well I'll make sure that I won't look at any more of 'Chris25's' Phantom Drafts.

If he thinks that Brisbane will pass on Schache at pick 2 then he clearly has no idea.

Everyone seems to think the top 7 is set aside from order. That is very rarely the case one month out. We still lack outside polish and its not like Parish is small he is a standard mid size and by all reports also fits the competitor non negotiable we appear to be carrying through. If he is the best pure mid I would snap him up at 3 and just take the player we think has the highest ceiling at 7 that is available and back in our development process to make them realise their potential.

Without knowing much about this year's draftees, if Parish is the best mid available and can win a contested ball as well has class outside then we need to get him. We've had problems drafting "skinny outside" types in the past but we didn't have the foundation of contested ball winners we have now and they also didn't have much of a contested ball element to their games. Previously we recruited these "outside" mids and just threw them in the deep end without support and expected them to do the leg work for the club. With Jones, Vince, Brayshaw, Viney, Petracca, Salem etc already there to provide some grunt we can handle getting an outside classy type to complement them anf hopefully help deliver the ball on a platter to Hogan.

Parish has the credentials to be as good/better than Gaff, which is exactly the type of mid we're lacking. It makes sense to draft him.

I like Oliver. He ll be a bitter. Oozes leadership and is right down Roos alley

Sounds like a pervert-I hope he just concentrates on the football and gets games on merit.

IMO, we need GC or Essendon to pick someone other than Francis, Weidemann or Curnow with one of those picks 4-6. And we can have whoever is left of the 3.

We take Parish at 3 which is an absolute lock. Essendon are big fans of Weideman, they want to stock up on another key forward to team up with Daniher for the next couple of years. With Carlisle now gone that really leaves then thin on talls.

There is also a very good chance Francis goes to Essendon aswell. With Goddard coming towards the end of his career its a no brainer.

Now dont rule out GC going for Milera at pick 6. They rate his class and outside work and given the loss of Harley Bennell this is also a no brainer. I am certainly sure thats another reason why they down graded aswell instead of using a high pick for him. Now with GC still stocked with forwards they see Peter Wright as the direct replacement for Charlie Dixon which then leaves us with selecting Charlie Curnow!

That most likely is the scenario.

Seems logical Dazzle.. Don't forget though GC still have Jack Martin & Jarrod Garlett. Too many of the same type of player maybe? Not sure if they would need a bollocking inside mid or not to help out the likes of Ablett & Prestia. I hope one of Curnow and Francis slides to us.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
