Matt Rosa

Yeah i think he would be a really handy addition, i think a few times this year we really struggled when either of jones or vince wasn't firing, rosa potentially adds one more senior midfielder to our list to really help our current leaders in the short term, which in effect rubs off on all our younger players in the long term. I don't see him replacing Cross as i see Salem filling that role, but i see him coming into replace the likes of Bail, M. Jones, Michie, Grimes, while our young midfield has time to develop at its own pace. Also offers good backup in case one of our good senior players gets injured for an extended period.

I don't why you would delist Cross and recruit Rosa, makes no sense at all.

Is it possible that Cross was retired knowing that the position he was subsequently offered and has taken with the club, was going to be available?

Rosa is a far better kick and might have 4 or so years left. Cross had 1 year at best, maybe 10 weeks. He was too slow to play in the midfield, too poor a kick for half back.

Rosa could play wing or half back and help with our skill and work rate. Doesn't help with our pace though.

I'd want him, but if we are getting all 3 of Melksham, Kennedy and Bugg even if they play different roles we are getting a lot of ready made players in.

We might have to see what Melksham, Stretch, Grimes and White offer on a wing/half back instead of Rosa and if Melksham looks the good or someone like a Mitch White is a player of the future or we draft someone then we will be thankful we didn't get the short term option in.

They made it clear as soon as they announced his retirement that they wanted to keep him around. But that's a bit irrelevant to the on field aspects of keeping him v bringing in a 28 year old.

I think it was the plan to get Melksham and play him at half back, the emergence of White as a decent prospect from the rookie list and the very small semi-resurgence of Jack Grimes (going from complete liability to somewhat ok depth) that made the FD think Crossy should retire. They didn't want him taking up a list spot if he wasn't going to be a regular in the team. Guess we will never know.

I taught Matt Rosa as a young student teacher many years ago. He was a lovely kid.

We need to be careful. We did need to get some 28 plus players at the start of 2014 because the cupboard was bare on that front. We don't want to overcorrect however.

nothing wrong with using a 30+ draft pick this year,,,,, for someone ready made who is quality, & that will help us from the get-go.

I just dont know where we get the pick from. We'd need to sacrifice one of Bugg, Melksham, or Kennedy.

Brett Andersen (SEN) fairly certain that the 3 will end up in the red and the blue next year. He also thinks Pick 3 is now dead and we will be looking at Weiderman to partner Hogan.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
