Knightmare from bigfooty

I have a feeling (and I've expressed it before) that we may not be going after Prestia all that hard.

His manager has already stated that we as a club were the most interested from all the Victorian clubs.

Just watched his highlights on Melbourne website I like what I see, he reminds me of viney I think we are onto a winner here

From the highlights he reminds me of Viney.

OMG - those are huge wraps. Hopefully you are both right.

Will watch with interest

If 'we' wanted to keep him then we would have have matched Collingwood $350k p/a.

He wasn't a free agent. But yes, it's pretty obvious we didn't want to keep him.

My point is 'we' didn't think we'd get overs for him, therefore didn't misjudge.

We have lost 2 starting 22 players and in exchange received a fringe player and a random pick at 29.

Not too sure how we improved the list

Toumpas was never a starting 22 player. Should have been. But that was the problem.

SWYL - agree. Should have been, wasn't - end of story.

really ? So what shot did Kennedy fire ?

You sound confused - I think it was (said to be) Oswald who fired the shot; Kennedy was the target.

Viney with better foot skills

OMG - you have got me as excited as Cyrrrrriiiiiiillllllll does to Bruce

Sorry - had to catch my breath.

His Under 18 form was really good and he slippred in his draft year. I suspect that he will play a similar type role to Dean Kent who has been very injury prone. We really missed Dean Kent's pace, run, defensive pressure etc most of last season. Ben Kennedy should be a good performer and will be good insurance for Dean should he have further issues with his hamstrings or other injuries. Lets hope they can both be in top form and play in the same team!!!!

He's a competitor. Thats the theme this year...

Yes he is. My nagging concern is that Collingwood never willingly let go top players or players with the potential to become top players, but they are prepared to let go players with deficiencies.

Meh I am underwhelmed big time. Kennedy gets fewer touches per game than Toumpas does.

He's been played as the sub more often than not.

If it's worth anything he has been dominant at VFL level, a class above.

Go check out his write up on Toumpas.

Found it funny that Adam Oxley's been tweeting he's looking forward to playing against BK his good mate on Queen's birthday, BK will likely be playing at Casey so jokes on him.

Joke might be on Oxley because he was hot and cold as well after that impressive performance on QB.

He might be playing on the ground formerly known as Olympic Park.

He was sub 12 times in 25 games...

If you look at Time On Ground % - Toumpas averaged 72% compared to Kennedy's 59% in 2015. Kennedy hasn't averaged more than 59% TOG in his three years. In his 3 full games last year he had 15, 12, and 15 touches. Not prolific but they would play different roles these two - similar but different.

Ben Kennedy has a career average of 54.7% time on ground.

To put that in perspective that would put him last at the MFC for time on ground in 2015 alone... our lowest was Neal Bullen with 58% of time spent on ground.

Collingwood never gave Kennedy a chance to improve or develop. Their loss will be our gain.

Alwaya said to people that the sub rule has killed alot of AFL careers and I reckon Kennedy was heading down that track. Now thats its abolished i think this decision will come back and bite the Magpies big time.

Watch him blossom next year

Now Roos talks about becoming more attack minded, and we've lost a player that can make an impact up forward.

Apart from one or two cameos, when did Howe ever make an impact up forward?

Never. He is useless up forward. Doesnt have the footy smarts, second efforts or the body strength.

Well that's one of the dumbest things I've read here in a while

What?

If Kennedy turns out to be the next Ablett, we should build a gold plated statue for Mahoney and Roos outside gate 2.

If you're planning on replying to someone's post, make sure you actually read the whole thing first. It helps, trust me.

Yes because Toumpas' touches were so effective.....

It's not just touches either it's what effect you have on the outcome in a contested situation. That's really when Toumpas shone. The only problem was that the shine was from his eyes in the headlights.

Nice bloke Toumpas but rarely had a big impact.

Through comparing Toumpas' and Kennedy's highlights, Ben easily looks the far better player. He has pace, can kick goals and isn't afraid to put his head over the football. Looking forward to seeing him in the red and the blue next year.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
