Carlton Request Priority Pick

So Carlton think they deserve a priority pick too. If they get pick 2 for Kruezer, the priority pick, and Brisbane get one too then that would be the top five picks going to two clubs. Surely the AFL won't be that stupid as they can see the damage the compromised drafts did in the last few years, then again it is the AFL we are talking about.

I think we should put a request in as well as we have been worse than Carlton since 2006. That might put the cat among the pigeons!

Carlton and Brisbane would be derelict in their duty if they don't apply. But if the MFC couldn't get a priority pick after our 2013 season, I can't see how anyone else can.

If nothing else, the AFL should recognise that having a discretion to award a priority pick should be abolished. There are better ways to assist clubs who perform woefully, such as helping them recruit a decent CEO and coach.

I don't think any team or more importantly any group of supporters should have to go through what we've been through in the last decade. (except of course Essendon supporters).

The AFL needs a robust competition with turnover at both ends of the ladder.

A 3 peat for Hawthorn is boring.

I still reckon the best way to equalize on-field fortunes is through a compromised draft, ie by pumping draft picks into the bottom clubs until they rise.

I think Carlton need a lot of help.

I agree but it's not just Carlton who need help.

Maybe they'll cite Cripps losing the Rising Star award as another reason they need one. I'm sure this will be endorsed by the whingeing supporters.

They are doing it to ensure they get band 1 compensation for Kreuzer if he walks through free agency like we did with Frawley. They are dreaming though

Doubt the AFL would award them one after they tanked in 06/07. Although friends in high places and all that...

They'll probably get pick 2 for Kreuzer if he leaves though so it will all work out.

That's the thing though. I'll go berserk if they get one.

They know they won't get one its a ploy, last year Mark Even said we would not get one because we were going to get a band 1compo for losing chip, so there thinking is ask for a pp then the AFLOAT will say no but we will give u a band1 compo for matty kurser, same with Brisbane with burger.

The draft actually seemed to be working fine until the new teams got everything on a silver platter for years, it artificially held the top clubs at the top and the bottom at the bottom. We may see this go back to the normal rise and fall over the next 5 or so years, just a pity the hawks were one of those held at the top!!!!

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
