Essendon are the new Melbourne.

Would be even funnier if we didn't lose to these nuf nufs

But we did. So what's that say about where we are at?

Crowd at Ethiad on a saturday afternoon for Essendon - 25,914.

That's with allegedly four times the supporters as Melbourne.

I wonder how they'll be going after three more years of being 'cr4p to appalling'?

What an interesting AFL scene it would be in Victoria with Carlton & Essendon in the cellar and Collingwood continuing to fade.

Lol, the one thing we could be sure of, it would see 'equalisation measures' move way up the agenda.

It says we still have a lot of work to do.

I commented on Essendon's dilemma on the WADA saga thread this morning. The Bombers are trapped by the James Hird catastrophe. The cost of sacking him at the end of the season and before his lucrative contract expires is substantial but I can't see a rebuild or any chance of a revival while he remains at the club. It's a train wreck.

Paige Cardona tweeted this after the game and I think she's probably on the money:

"@paigecardona: If James Hird loves the Essendon Football Club as much as he says he does, then he will step away and allow a very proud club to rebuild."

At his press conference he still says he is the man despite what others at the club may think. He has had plenty of opportunities and hints to do the right thing going back a couple of years now.

If GWS loses to Port today, they are going to find it mighty hard to make the finals I think.

With our Round 23 game being on the Sunday, they'll know by the time we play them whether they have a finals spot on the line or not. Most likely, I think, is that they'll be out of the running, which, although could help us get an extra win and cap off the year nicely, could also make the game a boring snore-fest at Etihad (compared to GWS at full pace trying desperately to make finals).

Essendon. The whole club is like a protected species. The MMM after-match commentary had the supporters phoning in tearing strips off Tird and the club while the hosts [censored]-footed around the issue of this malfunctioning team. I don't recall them being so generous when we have been thrashed, or Carlton, or Brisbane, or any other club going through a bad patch. Carlton are the most recent and didn't they just rip in at the scent of blood?

God it's depressing watching the Hawks play cause it shows just how far off we r unfortunately.

Michael Jamison refused to shake Mitch Robinson's hand at the end of their match.

Never a great look, but clearly Jamison's hurting after yet another terrible performance.

Wow Carlton on the bottom. Danger game next week. They wouldn't want another wooden spoon. It will be embarrassing if we lose next week to the bottom team. Id say Barker is now definitely out of the running.

Half of theirs were established players from other clubs.

Might not want the spoon but they want Pick#1.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

We'll break down the Match SIM against North Melbourne and wrap up the preseason with insights into training and our latest recruits. I apologize for skipping our annual season review show at the end of last season. After a disapponting season filled with off-field antics and a heated trade week, I needed a break. Thankfully, the offseason has recharged me, and I’m back—ready t
