Our tale of woe - 2007 to 2015

I started to compile our season scores from 2007 to the present day. Hoping to see some scoreboard improvement, or something to end the misery. At the end of the day, its all about scoring. I am over all the fluff and puff being feed to us long suffering supporters, Its all to no avail if we can't hit the scoreboard. Yet everyone at the club (players etc) promised a better effort in 2015.

Well, the scoreboard doesn't lie. If you are feeling depressed do not read on. I got even more peeved off compling this.

2006 we played finals, and its no news we have gone backwards ever since,

Well, the scoreboard doesn't lie. If you are feeling depressed do not read on. I got even more peeved off compling this.

Then why do it? It's misery porn. What possible benefit is there in raking over this ancient and unappealing history?

Closed book. Look forward, not back.

Then why do it?

Like I said I started this awhile back, stopped, then decided to compare our scores this season. Hoping to see some better performances this year.

So far we haven't, its the same old same old. One good game. 1/2 good half of footy, then jack for the rest of the game.

Every week its "oh, we'll learn from that game, and wont let it happen again. Well, its still happening.

This site has violent mood swings!

Last week it was like Mardi Gras in here, this week it's like a funeral home.

The game has changed a lot since 2007 and, particularly last year we had a coach and game plan that was intentionally trying to keep the scores in matches low. Unfortunately, this style kept the opposition AND our scores very low. While an interesting (and somewhat depressing) read it doesn't paint the full picture.

Part of the picture? Certainly. However there's so much more to our game and club than those numbers- that's what keeps forums such as this churning.

All true & u can include the diabolical drafting & development including the rotten culture & poorly run club both on & off the field.....

But what's the point...the club can only shape the future & a reminder to all of how just bad the club got & patience is required to fix the train wreck????

10 Seasons of VFL Football

The fact that we have 35,000+ members is a f#%^*ing miracle

Agree. Truely amazing effort to sign up 35,000 Members. We'll hit 50,000 if we get a team willing to put in for a full 100 mins of footy.

But how can a football club expect to hang onto members when every 3rd week or so, they sit and watch their team kick one goal in a half of footy.

And they say they give 100% during a game, well sorry, but I can't see that effort. If they decide to play out a whole game, the results will improve.

Jackson must be shaking his head in disbelief at times. We were lucky to keep him onboard. Another clean out on the cards again, I was hoping that wouldnt be required but we still have too many not up to the task.

Year %

2006 109.66

2007 78.16

2008 62.61

2009 74.66

2010 94.52

2011 85.27

2012 67.49

2013 54.07

2014 68.37

2015 71.54

Brevity is the soul of depressingness.

Having said that, I wish we could have done things differently after the 2010 season.

What it shows is tha we are a crap team still over a long long journey

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm
