Hogan's handpass to Pedersen with the game in the balance. Oh my [censored] God.

According to Leight Matthews, Hogan has no game when the ball hits the deck.

What a win.

You know when Jake Spencer is bursting through the centre and hitting blokes on the [censored] it's gunna be our day.

Hogan simply has to get a rising star nomination now! If he doesn't lets let the fools at the AFL know about it!

Contested grab in the square in the first 30 seconds by hulkamania was a nice omen too

Brayshaw's last quarter is the sort of performance that you get from a star. Immense.

Hogan. No words necessary.

I actually thought it was the lesser lights like Fitzy and Grimes and Spencer and Pedo that helped us win

Vanders is a gem. That's more tackles than some of our players have had their entire career.

Pedersen and Hogan soooooooo much better than Dawes and Hogan

They did seem to fit in well together. Kept out of the way but were there for support. And Pedersen actually grabbed his marks and kicked his goals.

Terrific performance, really impressive bounce back. And not just grunt, at times really good quality. And we may have, finally, found a sport for Fitzpatrick, he looked (Fitzy??) composed and strong. If he can hold a spot down back that's going to be pretty significant, 'cos that opens up other possibilities, eg releases Garland who can be dangerous elsewhere. I look forward to the coming weeks.

Nice to win.

Not going to get overly excited though.

Fitzpatrick, one good game. Let's see him back it up now against tougher opposition.

Same goes with Toumpas.

I think we need to see a bare minimum in effort from these guys and also a cap on how many mistakes certain players make during a game.

We need consistency in form from many of our players over several games if we're going to stay competitive.

Not just one flashy game here and there.

Vandenberg is proof that if you have a desire to compete and you're cool and calm with the ball, you can consistently have an impact. This is from a mature age rookie who's coming off half an AFL pre-season. And his first at that.

Hogan and Brayshaw also display these characteristics.

Great win, very even performance and not left to TMac to fly the flag. Similar win to our previous two wins. We were able to press on after getting a good early lead. The real test for us is winning once we fall behind and have to fight back. That's when we fold pathetically once we get a couple of goals behind. Anyhow the season looks far more promising than this time last week.

Riley was just what we needed the last quarter. Needed to smash bodies and he did.

Hard at it, tackled like a man possessed and all but one disposal was a sharp handball (and spot on).

Important role and great sub strategy!

I thought the "Pig Dog" was sensational the last quarter his run down and tackling pressure were exactly what was required ! He stays in at the expense of Bail or Matt Jones!

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
