MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 8

Demonland

Recommended Posts

If you look at the results they are twice as good as us.

Four wins to two and two against the better sides in the comp.

We have beaten also rands.

The are deservedly favourites and will win by 6+ goals.

Where did I say they should not be favourites? They are not as good as the media or some on here beat up. Our lack of ability has been overly amplified by playing three big mature sides that have made some forget some of the form we showed in patches. I don't think we will win but wont be surprised if we give it a serious shake.

I don't like targeting individual players, but on exposed form, a team that includes Grimes, Bail, M Jones, Spencer, Fitzpatrick, Toumpas and Riley is going to struggle immensely. That being said, I hope they prove me wrong. We'll see

Not looking forward to the FitzSpencer and Groumpas combos

Fitzy is an interesting inclusion.. You'd think his only real likely match up would be Boyd ? Maybe Mcdonald to Stringer, Dunn to Crameri and Garland to Dickson. I reckon Howe might play forward this week if that's the case. Not sure why Tyson has played the last 3 against Fremantle sydney hawthorn... Think he would have been best to rest his knee then and be back against a side we have a chance against

Was going to write this post word for word. Great minds think a like. At least you and I can have that opinion.

Can't imagine they'd leave Howe in the backline and play Fitz in the forward line after he's spent the whole pre season and the Casey games till now being trained to play in the backline. I figured there could be a future role for him there playing on the 200+cm forwards in the league. Perfect test against Boyd. That then releases Howe to play forward where against the Doggies he could play havoc with their shorter backs.

It does have the look of the Casey team at the moment. 8 players in it that were at Casey in round 1 and a few who should be in Casey this week.

Was looking forward to this game when I looked at the fixture at the beginning of the year. Not looking forward to it now. I've had that feeling a few times the past couple of years and seen some great wins, so hope springs eternal.

40 point loss would be a fair whack, youth will generally conquer, the Dees were out on their feet at 3 quarter time at Ballarat and have gone down hill since.

Good to see some passion from the players.

IF a player ever dropped themselves to avoid playing a particular team THEN I'll eat my hat. What an absurd thing to suggest.

Barrett is a complete f-wit.

Jack Watts has played 100+ more AFL games than you Damien and would most likely be a far better journalist you pole smoking cretin.

60+ loss coming up

The Bont, Picken, Boyd, Murphy will take us apart.

Also we never play well against Footscray.

40 point loss would be a fair whack, youth will generally conquer, the Dees were out on their feet at 3 quarter time at Ballarat and have gone down hill since.

If that [censored] happens I'm done. I'll cop a loss but if we get a flogging im done. Ill never pay my $500 plus membership again.. I repeat never again! If we get done by over 60 points I'm finished on dland .. GET THAT FINISHED. Honestly I'm sick of being [censored] over as a melbourne supporter.. There are lots of other [censored] I enjoy. Repeat 60+ I'm done forever!!

I just can't be that dismissive. I've already excused them for the thumping that is going to occur. I have been very dirty on the way we have played the last 3 weeks but you have to face facts. At the risk of severe repetition - The team going into battle on Saturday is a shadow of what we are at our best. Any side would be hurting, but our lack of depth makes it a complete disaster.

I'll just list all ELEVEN OUTS again for the fiftieth time this thread:

Dawes, Trengove, Jetta, Tyson, Viney, Kent, Frost, Salem, JKH and Petracca.

Swap out for

Grimes, MJones, Pedersen, Fitzpatrick, Spencer, Toumpas, Riley, Bail

Add to that our only real ruckman has unexpectedly just disappeared.

Add to that the horrific current form of some our best known performers (Dunn, Howe, Vince etc)

To expect this side to perform anywhere near competently is just a fool's game unfortunately.

This season is almost a write-off in terms of us really being able to evaluate Roos and the foundation he is building.

Very annoying.

Tyson out...

78 point loss coming up.

To be fair Tyson hasn't exactly set the world alight so far this season. I don't feel as though we'll miss him as much as we would have last season. I'm hopeful a week or two off will help him get over his injuries and he can return to the side more refreshed.

B: Colin Garland, Tom McDonald, Jack Grimes

HB: Jeremy Howe, Lynden Dunn, Heritier Lumumba

C: Daniel Cross, Nathan Jones, Matt Jones

HF: Angus Brayshaw, Cameron Pedersen, Jack Watts

F: Jeff Garlett, Jesse Hogan, Aaron vandenBerg

FOLL: Jake Spencer, Dom Tyson, Bernie Vince

I/C (from): Jimmy Toumpas, Max Gawn, Billy Stretch, Ben Newton, Aidan Riley, Rohan Bail, Jack Fitzpatrick

IN: Jack Fitzpatrick, Jack Watts, Max Gawn, Aidan Riley, Ben Newton, Jesse Hogan

OUT: Chris Dawes (calf), Viv Michie (omitted), Christian Salem (hamstring)

I just want to see Maxy play. Are we meant to believe that Watts has suddenly found form and confidence? Sorry but I wonder if we were playing brisbane last week weather watts would have dropped himself. I just don't think he wanted to play against hawthorn because he knew he'd be beaten or physically pushed around.

That post is probably where Barrett got his material. Disgraceful!

Clearly Jack was dropped. Why Roos went thru the 'he dropped himself' charade I will never know.

It has backfired badly and Jack is paying the price with more negative publicity.

Jack is an easy target and Barrett has stooped to a new low as he knows Jack was dropped.

I have just developed a new loathing for Barrett.

I hope Roos figures out a way to get this back on track and starts protecting Jack.

2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. Lack of preparation after a problematic preseason prevented Oliver from reaching the high standards set before last year’s hamstring woes. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

At the time, he was on his way to many personal honours and the club in strong finals contention.
