Carlton are the new Melbourne. I never thought they would make us look good.

Don't get ahead of ourselves, we still are yet to play them.

I think I saw something on Fox a few evenings ago that was highlighting the fact that Carlton had scored 55 goals up to that point this season, while their offloaded forwards Eddie Betts, Jarrod Waite, Josh Kennedy and Jeff Garlett had kicked 57 goals between them. Pretty damning of their recruitment strategy.

I don't know. I just find it uneasy taking pleasure out of another club's misfortunes. As much as I hate Carltom and it's fans, I don't wish what we've been through to happen to another group of fans...

...lol jk, screw 'em!

Blues and Bombers in a world of hurt, and two Pies players with positive tests.

If the MFC start winning games things everything is perfect

Good point! Maybe then we will become the new Carlton, or the new old Melbourne.???

Melbourne circa 1956 would suit me ...

They need to buy GWS...

...or merge and relocate there :-) Edited by monoccular

They'll be alright.

Cripps, Menzel, Docherty and Jaksch are the next Gibbs, Murphy, Walker and Thomas.

Which is to say, variously overrated 'stars' whose exploits mask the overall inadequacy of a list...

Carlton could be facing a serious Brett Ratten curse, after the dodgy reasons and incompetent manner of his sacking.

"Ratten's Revenge"?

Brett's Hex"?

Try to be polite to Carlton supporters for a while though - there's more than a few who are so disappointed in the club that they are earnestly debating the point of remaining loyal to the Blues.

In their defense, most Blues fans I know are quick to acknowledge the ineptness of their club since 2002.

You can say that again.

As everyone knows, the last time we ever achieved anything significant was 2006 where we played in finals & finished 7th. The Blues won the spoon that year yet still managed to defeat us in both encounters! The Blues might be at another low ebb but we are hardly a finals proposition nor a huge threat to them. I suspect it would be a pretty close match unless we get our best list back on the park before then and they are still cactus.

It appears the two biggest draft manipulators end up with the two worst lists!

actually saints as well.

I think its not the draft but the management of the rebuild/development, & of the lists that has left those clubs crawling. we were crawling before hand. the hawks rebuilt this way.

but the hawks maintained the ferocity off field & managed they're rebuild via the draft & via strong list management/trades very well, thru the likes of Jason Dunstall. shrewd.

Carlton are the new Melbourne. I never thought they would make us look good.

their arrogance has shipwrecked them. & their kids.

the arrogance hangover from the elliot times IMO has caused this sour culture.

we have had our own dose, even if in hushed tones & inner sniggering. the result the same, stilted development of recruits with big heads & no output.

lets just hope we manage to win against them .... we have been known to loose against Carlton when we should have won ......

Hopefully we'll let loose with a volley of goals and not lose.

It's still good to see their arrogant supporters eating $h1t.

After round 6:Kennedy, Betts, Garlett and Waite: 66Carlton: 66

And that's with Jeffy kicking about as accurately as my Mum* from extremely gettable set shots.

He should be leading the Coleman.

* My Mum can't kick a football. At all.

Remember those bumper stickers that were going around in about 2006 i think....."Carlton wooden spoon, best thing i have ever seen".......saw them on so many cars!

All's not well at the Bluebaggers. Mass staff exodus and unhappy work conditions. Thank god it's no longer us.

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/mass-exodus-of-carlton-staff-continues-20150521-gh6ytz.html

Them hiring Stephen Trigg will have the same results as us hiring Cameron Schwab

Both had poisonous histories. Carlton really screwed up when they could have learned a lesson from us in not how to hire staff.

Not the ones I know. They all thought that the Blues were on the cusp of the top 4 only two years ago. I kept telling them that they had a shallow list, masked by Judd's brilliance. Turns out I was right.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
