Serious chance against the Tiges on Friday. I'd give Watts another game next week as he seems to usually play well against Richmond.

Out: Frost (injury)

In: Whoever knocks down the door tomorrow

Peterson for Frost

Toumpas for cross.

I know cross can get his hands on the ball, spreads, defends and gives his all but his kicking and lack of creativity is starting to hurt the team. Think toump needs to be given extended run and let's see what he can do.

I disagree, I think Toumpas needs to earn his spot on merit.

It is 'sink or swim' time for young Jimmy.

Where has the Frost injury been confirmed?

listed on the AFL site as injured, but exactly what is unknown. The concern is it's been listed as 'foot' - without knowing the details this category is as concerning as 'knee'.

Matt Jones > Jetta - Looked lost down back today... more work needed at VFL level. Jones isn't the greatest player of all time but at least he runs lines out of half back and makes his opponent work hard going the other way. Jetta rarely does this. Jones would need to clean up his disposal skills and choices coming off HB though as he was pretty horrid last year and will often undo his good work with some pretty bad clangers in mid field. I would rank Jones a fair margin above Jetta at this stage of their carreers in a team ranking sense.

Michie > JKH - doesn't look ready for rigours of AFL right now week in and week out. Would only play him within a 40 meter arc of goal at this early stage of his career hovering around HULK in small stints for 10 minutes here and there IF he is in. Lost anywhere else. Loves to kick goals and knows where the goals are unlike most of our other forwards atm and worth persevering with in this role. However, at this stage of their careers i would also rank Michie well ahead of JKH in a total match (output) team ranking.

Perderson > Watts - [Pedersen] for all day gut running/effort/attack on the ball/ball carrier and occasional overhead mark. Can kick occasional goal but not the most gifted player in general play. Watts the opposite of all this and probably about the same output on the scoreboard if Pedo played up forward. Pedo will at least bring more balls to the ground in a contest as well which might give our smalls a few more opportunites to goal. I don't expect Pedo will give all that much more in a scoreboard sense than Watts but at least he wont do as many of the moral sapping things that we see Watts do a little too often.

I would only play Dawes through HB and Ruck (when resting the Russian). Useless up forward and will only get in the road of the Hulk's development. Replace with Howe for the X factor and ability to take an overhead keping the ball in OUR forward line for longer periods of time easing the pressure off our D a little.

Thank Christ you're not in charge.

When our biggest problem this season has been panic and dropping our heads, I think Cross can be held onto, yeah?

And those bagging Jetta... seriously?

I'm beginning to lose confidence in Dawes, which saddens me because, you know, good bloke, can sometimes contribute very well, etc.

With Frost likely out as well, and Jamar overworked in the ruck, we need to bring in at least one tall capable of contributing to the ruck.

Some chance Vince will be suspended, the old knee-jerk MRP will be wanting to make a point alongside the melee fines. Or maybe it really has changed this season?

So for my thinking, it is -

Out:

Dawes, Frost

In:

Whichever tall 'puts their hand up', whichever mid puts their hand up.

And if necessary a like-for-like replacement for Vince.

Also, next week we have to give Brayshaw a full game. He's 13th in the AFL for tackles despite being sub in every game!

Watts has to

If Stretch has a good day today I would play him against the Tigers.

I think we lack pace and skill .

Dawes has presence but little reAl impact.

Jkh and Jetta are walk up starts.

They are two of our most creative by hand and foot.

Jkh getting run down was a result of no shepherding/ talking.

Michie would surely be next in line for us.

Viv,showed a distinct lack of chase and get back deep to help in his first outing with us.

There was a deep conversation about his lack of "team orientation",and he also got injured in the same match.

Hoping the last 12 months, some nice coaching and time in ressies has changed his attitude.

Bring on the Casey game...

If Frost comes up from his injury which is probably doubtful then I would think Dawes is in the gun. Either way I would like to see us restructure our forward line with one less tall. Frost plays key and ruck, Dawes plays key and ruck or Pedersen plays key and ruck depending on today. I don't see room for Gawn or Spencer unless Jamar is injured.

Would we prefer Dawes or Watts?

For all the panic merchants.

Garlett will kick his 32-40 this year and will help develop the forward line.

Pick on somebody that" cant" get his own kick,or is afraid of his own shadow.

I would be very surprised if Dawes is in the gun. Whilst we would like him Im sure to kick goals and take more more he is in their for his work rate and making a contest to bring it to ground. How many aerial contests did he actually lose yesterday? Watts will be on notice but I doubt will be dropped. Richmond's back up ruck is Griffiths. Unless Gawn or Spencer tear it up today I would just use Dawes sparingly in there for some light relief and accept he is there to halve the contest and that is all. Whilst I like the idea of 3 crumbers none of them are consistent in their output so I would much prefer we take in an extra runner and play the two more likely to see midfield minutes as well.

People calling for 3+ changes. They should consider it is not the Roos way Casey play today and the player would need to back up on a Friday.

Out Frost and Kent

In Michie and next best performed mid from Casey today.

My problem with Dawes (apart from the fumbling and dropped marks) is he doesn't present up at the player with the ball. He did it again yesterday and it costs us, he will drop back to try and get an easy one when he should lead up and give his team mate an easier option.

Griffiths is more than a handy ruck so if it is Dawes he's going to have to be on his game. If Pedders plays forward and has a good one today it will put pressure on Dawes position. Fitz is another but I'm not convinced he can really step up.

Replacing one fringe player with another will hardly effect our fortunes.

It's a discussion point, but in the scheme of things it has virtually no baring.

We simply need our best players playing well.

Disagree. If its fringe player crumber or tall flanker for fringe player midfielder. It will assist the make up of our side.

A couple of howlers and he's the worst in the world. They weren't good but he does provide a lot more than some of his team mates.

I enjoyed this post more than any other this year. This really brightened up my morning. It was like Clarke and Dawe started coaching an AFL team.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
