The Rising Star Thread - Congratulations Jesse Hogan!

Well that sucked hearing that...

I dunno what you expect him to say, because if he said anything else it would be a lie.

He's 20. How is he to know where his career will take him? As long as he's happy to sign on, that's all we can expect.

If we continue to dwindle at the bottom quarter of the ladder, he won't stay, and neither will those young teammates he loves. But he recognises that it is up to them to move us up the ladder, and if that happens, I can't see why he'd leave.

We will never not have enough cash to pay him. It's simply about success, which is 100% what Brayshaw, Viney, Petracca, Salem and so on all think too, and would say the same thing if they were interviewed about their future every 3 days like Hogan is.

Now we just need to sign him on. Preferably longer then 2 more years where he will be 22. gulp...

"I can't say (if I will ever move back to play in WA)," he said. "Obviously I am enjoying my time here and the list we are obviously growing is going to be pretty unbelievable I think. It is pretty obvious and I think in a couple of years we are going to be a pretty good side. I can't be certain but at the moment I am very happy where I am and enjoying my football." Hogan

I hope we can improve a little bit quicker over the next "couple of years"

That looks like an extract from his interview a few months ago?

If so, its a bit of a damper on a great day for him and his fans.

Also, it is worth acknowledging the date as indications are he will sign an extension over the off-season.

He did say in the SEN interview he would like to be a leader of this football club.

So he is looking at being a leader with us in the future means he is not looking to move anytime soon.

Like Moses?

Surely this means he is off to Perth with half the team.

We need local girl to latch on to him and sire a few kids. Then he won't be going anywhere and we'll have a few F/Ss hopefully.

His girlfriend from WA has moved here to be with him. She was working at a cafe next to my work, so had a few Jesse sightings. Unfortunately the cafe has closed down.

Why do people post crap like this when he was just on the radio a few weeks ago talking about the fact that he is single

I can assure you that this was fact up until a couple of months ago. I can't dictate what happened to his relationship since.

Well if anything it is a good thing, as he will be with us at least for a few years and as he is single he can meet some nice Melbourne girls, rather than having a Perth one luring him home.

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play
