Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

When does the coach start taking the blame?

Wow, try saying that 3 times fast.

Well, I was channeling the Reverend William Archibald Spooner when I was writing that contribution.

Obviously people base their opinion on what they see, but in my mind it's completely beyond doubt that most people just see what they want to see and very, very few footy observers are capable of being truly objective. I include myself in this.

The path to a healthy income if you know how to exploit it - when the heart rules the head - there is an opportunity in that for sure. Emotion always gets in the way of clear thinking.

I hate the blame game, I think most on this site have been at a sport club where everyone points fingers, it only destroys a sports team, it's better to work together, it has to be heads down bums up and work hard.

In life and in competition's there is only one sportsperson or team that is happy, who ever win's that competition, the more that's in a competition the harder it is to win.

Yeah, all you have to do is look at Red Bull Racing and Renault ATM so see how finger pointing destroys teams.

  • 2 weeks later...

Last year was a success relative to the nonsense before it - just look at the numbers in my sig.

This year hasn't started yet - I was never very bullish about this season because our best talents are far too young to be taking us up the ladder.

With that said - the mindset of the team is worrying when we win the contested and uncontested footy but have fewer forward entries - that makes me think blokes don't trust themselves and each other and that is what coaches get paid to instil.

Let's see how we go...

Yeah, they went ok...

Paul Roos doesn't give a stuff about NAB Cup, he didn't at the Swans and he wont at the Dees

He cares about winning real games of footy not some mickey mouse competiion

IN ROOSY WE TRUST

I reckon Roos would be more than happy to take the blame for yesterday!

Like to change the thread to When does the coach take the credit.

We functioned as a united team the first time in years.

The feeling within the group was palpable. That's what Roos does so well

Increment 1 last year was about getting the defensive side sorted and was largely successful.

This season we are clearly concentrating on getting the balance right going the other way.

It's not surprising that many didn't recognise what was going on at the Melbourne Football Club.

It was coaching being done properly.

To many demon landers don't have a real life. The negativity and criticism reflects their own person struggles. These forums are healthy when positive, a little light heart, bring a bit of information that gives us all a little more hope. A nice break in a busy day. Then get back into the real world.

This thread just goes to show how silly you can look if you jump the gun, especially during the pre-season.

It was a ridiculous thread to begin with and the game today proved that.

One swallow doesn't make a summer but I'll take the swallow.

It was the best we've played since Bailey's time and long overdue but we played a Suns team short on match practice and without their two key forwards.

Clearly the most pleasing thing is that we kicked goals and from my point of view that Jack Watts took another step in proving his doubters wrong.

Interesting that the commentators kept accrediting the attacking play to Simon Goodwin. Personally I'd give the credit to Roos. The buck stops at the top.

And isn't the brand of footy so far this round so good with its attacking mindset. I also like the new holding the ball interpretation.

A win next week would really be something.

They had the same match practice we did. We were missing our best forward and arguably our best ball using midfielder.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
