Ill answer more fully later.

Teams like nth toiges doggies ( that I know of)

Blues too, cttoi... often have a presence at local festivals and such.

A chance to plug the brand and connect.

Cant say im aware of MFC doing this. Happy to be corrected.

There are other avenues. . A Visit to Brighton I suppose counts but these things need to have greater reach for effect.

A simple overview is it shouldn't wait for ppl to come to it. Thats very antiquated in outlook.

There was a thread recently on our representation at Chinese New Year festivities 'BB', so I think we are.

A few years ago my son was lucky enough to present Colin with his jumper pre-season. 2 years later Colin saw him at a footy clinic and remembered him and spoke to him. Colin then gathered half the team together for a group photo with my son. I doubt he has changed that much.

I sat next to Colin at a function once a few years ago. Every time I have seen him since he has come up and said hello to me. Not only is he friendly he has a freakish memory.

Slightly off topic (sorry Nasher) but interesting point.... I've heard Garland is super fastidious about preparation on his opponent for the next game. More so than just about any player. He goes through the tapes over and over to try and remember every detail and stat about how to play on them. Sounds like he does have a freakish memory.

My friends son was involved in the Reach Program and Col Garland was a mentor. This young guy said Col was a top bloke, related really well to the trouble young teens and went way and beyond the call of duty. I think he is generally shy but has been very pleasant the few times I have spoken to him. Edited by jane02

You would not meet a bloke more passionate about the club than Col Garland. He has an intimate knowledge of our club's history and puts a lot of time into programs such as Read like a Demon. Col bleeds red and blue.

While I agree whole heartedly with your sentiments, Nasher, can we have this phrase added to that word censor file?

why does this not surprise me - to me it feels like the bloke has not enjoyed being part of our club for quite a while now, and it is showing in his footy

...do they sway you?

Or are you just looking to attack his form in 2014 through a quiet day at Luna Park?

Really? You think the Dogs and North are in a better position with connecting with their supporters than us? If you believe that, then you know nothing of the Dogs, and North for that matter, both are horrible at engaging with their supporters, I have heard it directly from their members, want to know who treats their members the worst IMO? Collingwood. I know at least 5 people that have stopped buying memberships after 10-50 years because the club couldn't care less about them. And 2 of them were Legends members.

And what the hell does the last line even mean? So we should be ramming ourselves down peoples throats? Who else does this? Oh yeah TELEMARKETERS, and we all love them.

Col "Judy" Garland is an average AFL Footballer

I doubt he will change that. But good luck to him. He has made it to the elite comp

But he is no star. People on here are worried that at years end we may lose him

Why...?

Be fascinating to see how the market values his game....

As I intimated - you are arguing someone's form is bad ergo they 'don't want to be at the club':

why does this not surprise me - to me it feels like the bloke has not enjoyed being part of our club for quite a while now, and it is showing in his footy

It's BS, the kind of BS you usually boorishly rail against - and yet here we are...

Looks like Col Garland is the new whipping boy of Demonland.

Hope he proves you all wrong!

Crazy isn't it? Col comes across as very honest when he speaks and I have heard him give some fantastic interviews. Unlike some fake twats, he seems to have a genuine love of the club and has spoke about how much it hurt when we were losing so bad.

His body language hasn't changed, it was the same regardless of form.

I know you have read, as I have, many other people agreeing that his body language and general presence on field is off

aaaaaaaaand there we go with the personal attacks again. I'm going to leave it. Poor example from you Nasher.

did it occur to you that perhaps there is a reason several people are having a go at him? Like maybe not having played a decent game of footy for an extremely long time?

I thought Garland played a pretty decent game on the weekend from what I saw. Not quite back to the form of a couple of years back, but certainly a good contributor on the day.

There was a thread recently on our representation at Chinese New Year festivities 'BB', so I think we are.

thats right.. they did

Had forgotten that ...thanks for the rectification.

Club needs to keep at this sort of thibg.

For the benefit of Azzkika... its was plain in meaning.

The above eg is exactly what the club needs to foster..and across more and different sectors. Thats the notion of not waiting...and seeking.

The ringing round does occur but is mainly aimed at re-signing the disenfranchised.

In the days of yore before Auskick and when zones existed the clubs connected with their 'heartland' in a cery hands on manner. Maybe the MFC needs to take a page from history . AFL..and not just the MFC has a fight on its hands to remain relevant. It cant afford to not be proactive. Every opportunity counts.

Elephant talk:

Simply ...what for anyone else.

it, for mine, goes back to missed opportunity

if the club thinks luna park day cuts it for all. ..well sadly mistaken I'd say.

Kids want to meet the players, feel special, get an autograph and a photo.

Everyone else wants to follow a club that wins games of footy.

Win that and you've made up for missed opportunities.

My son's a happy camper today... being in Sydney we obviously couldn't get to the Family day, but as I detailed in an earlier post somewhere, the club arranged a signed Dees jumper (most players from what I can tell) and a card signed my Nathan Jones. They arrived the other day and I presented them to him today... made his day!!

So despite the issues that have been discussed in this and other threads, the club does get it right hopefully more often than they get it wrong.

Not sure if these links to Instagram are for general consumption, but here are a couple of shots of the booty:

Ok I got there just after 9 and have no idea how that time just flew. I had my 3 yr old niece and was going to take her on a ride after we had got autographs, she had a photo with Jack Viney and the line was cut because it was nearly 11. The morning just flew.

Ok where was Nathan Jones. I did not see him all morning and therefore missed out on his signature. Where was he standing signing autographs and I didnt see Watts either.

Interesting they had Jesse Hogan up in the room where you have to queue and walk up the stairs. Normally that is where the leadership group is. Anyway he seemed a nice boy. Enjoyed the day, left before the presentation.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
