I barrack for Melbourne not the players,,, Free agency has done that, 2 picks under 10 would be handy again and glad the club said 4 he is 27 next month so 33 years old end of 4....

This post made my day. Possibly not for the reasons it was meant to.

Hmmm, maths is not a strong point then. Not mine either.

Seriously, offer him six years on a front-loaded contract and just get it done... he'll only be 30 something!

Yes 4 year deal at $600,000 per year ... get it done. Three time consecutive Best and Fairest.

What if he wants $700k? Or $800k?

Send him on his way?

All I can say D'Ox is that my mate says that everything is positive and progressing well between MFC and Nate. If not before Xmas more than likely in the New year, but tells me we have nothing to worry about! Merry Xmas

Thanks D Merry Christmas to u to.

I don't think there are many that don't think Nathan Jones is just tops. What I am wondering about is the disconnect between what Nathan Jones will do as a leader and so loyal he will stay, and the desire to get Dangerfield (or any FA) to do the opposite to Adelaide and come here.

You mention what the club wants - and maybe what happened to Frawley was also what the club wanted, and we should not be damning a bloke with poor character when he wasn't wanted by his club?

And on your last point - what about if he doesn't think we are offering enough money? What if he takes a humble discount for all the success we are promising and Dangerfield arrives on double that?

I don't think it is very simple at all.

I am not across any contract/s but would have thought with the recent departures of Clark and Chip, Dawes into his 3rd year of his contract, Vince and The Prince on decent wickets, lots of kids and comparing our list player for player with the likes of Hawthorn and Sydney we could easily accomodate what Jones is asking and offer huge coin for "insert name".

Brilliant news. Now to be playing some finals like Chunk got to do in his first season.

Like Kornes for Port, he'll dominate best and fairest voting and end up one if the most awarded Demons ever.

Better than losing him as a free agent to Hawthorn. Or Geelong.

Not going to be a walk in the park for him going forwards.

Ho ho ho Merry Christmas.

Great Christmas present.

We finally re-sign a free agent.

Looks like Demoneyes and GNF were on the money.

Well done lads.

A very durable footballer 'Sir Paul', I have no problem with the 5 year term.

After the hype with the new recruits dies down I wouldn't be surprised to see the new Jones contract as a Christmas present to the supporters.

Happy to see this happen...no inside info as others profess but it just made sense to me.

Blood is truly thicker than water where Jonesy is concerned. Fantastic for Nathan, our Club and us supporters.

There's no one more Melbourne than Jonesy, ask any other supporter to name a Melbourne player and he would come first every time.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan.
