That might be correct but as a parent of a kid coming into the system I wouldn't have thought Melbourne would be seen as a prize destination.

Would Essendon?

EFC would have to be on drugs to take Blease

Due diligence would surely involve ascertaining if he is one of the "named" players at EssUndone. If he is, we would need to carefully weigh the risks of him being given a 6, 12 or 24 month ban vs the benefits to us once any ban was served. IF he did one of those 6 month deals, and if the deal were ratified by WADA, it could be worth a bid.

If he was completely "in the clear" sure....would make a big play for him.

The talk is about Ryder heading to BrisVegas. Spoke to a few essendon fans who keep hearing that if he can get out of his contract he is off to Brisbane.

He would be useful, but I think he will command more coin than his actual worth.

The lions look to have one of the most agile ruck pairing seen in years if they pull this off.

Martin and Ryder fit and playing together would be a fairly hard to beat.

If Ryder goes to Brisbane would someone like Leuenberger look for opportunities elsewhere? Ryder and Martin would most likely do ruck/forward duties, not leaving much room for the big fella. Would be an upgrade on what we have if he became available.

leuenberger has already been offered up for trade, i've been lead to believe.

We'd be silly to not look at him, our ruck stocks are almost non-existent.

Jamar - has one year left on his contract which by then will be 2 years to long. He'll more than likely be a number 1 ruckman again next year but the game has past him.

Gawn - hopefully he'll be able to stay on the park but he needs support.

Spencer - has effort, has aggression, like a lot of our players lacks skill. Hoping we'll get through the year without needing to play him.

Fitzpatrick - more of a forward than a ruck, if we lost Jamar, Gawn and Spencer it would be interesting to see if he was able to lift having a guaranteed role.

Only problem has been with injury but he has an enormous upside, the best potential ruck talent in the game.

He appears lazy to me. He seems to have a lot of talent, but still drifts in and out of games. I'd take him as a ruckman, but then I think about the whole ASADA and I think they're all damaged goods.

Any chance?

I'm all for him coming.

We'd have to give up 2 or 3 to get him. I'd be very, very cautious about trading for any Essendon player involved in the ASADA stuff, and especially so if we were giving up something huge like a top 3 pick.

Sorry don't have to trade they have a get out clause.

I've read a few articles re: Ryder.

He wants out but wants Essendon to receive compensation. Our 2nd rounder should be enough but I doubt he would come to us. You never know though... Someone posted earlier in the year that one of our assistant coaches said we would be targeting a ruck at the end of the year.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
