a series of quotes from sources yesterday:

1,000,000 - 1 shot

We're playing Hay List to Geelongs Black Caviar, but still a chance.

I've got more chance of being drafted.

Its difficult to not dream until it's a definitive no. But don't leave your nuts flapping in the wind waiting for good news.

And if he doesn't come now:

Paul Connors met with Josh Mahoney at AAMI Park today. One last crack, perhaps???

Confirmed coming to Melbourne.

One of two things, either there is still truth to all these little rumours or we are talking to Connors about another player he manages.

Correct. Dangerfield arrives at Tullamarine, then gets shuttled to Geelong.

May fly direct to Avalon.

It's completely viable that while Connors is talking to Melbourne, that the club in inquiring about Dangerfield.

He would be absolutely crazy to accept less money to play in Geelong for a number of reasons. List quality and the fact the "go home" factor is irrelevant as you're only 1.5 hours at most away from Melbourne.

I'd be disappointed if the club isn't pushing hard. Don't you think his manager would *want* Dangerfield to take more money? Of course he does...the club would be silly not to keep pushing.

Him being at the club doesn't confirm anything other than the fact Melbourne is inquiring about players his managers. Dangerfield is part of that group.

tl;dr Dangerfield to sign with Melbourne, 12 years, 12 million.

His manager is bound to try and push the Geelong offer up. 100K difference is probably not going to change things but 200K plus is something you would have to think about. If the manager was speaking to Mahony you can bet his name came up along with a big figure (may have chatted about Watts or others as well). Doesn't mean we are any chance but the situation still has to play itself out.

Being a country lad, instead of Danger being content to do the occasional 1-1.5 hr drive to Moggs, I'd imagine he's excited it's only a 1-1.5 hr drive to the bright lights!

And we'll beat Geelong at Simmonds again next year to be the best performed away side down there since 2005.

Did he get a free kick from that 'incident?'

Nope.

Umpire doesn't believe in ghosts that yank you backwards.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
