It was quoted from his appearance on AFL 360. He never actually stated he was "sleepless" after the game.

Roosy is fine, mass hysteria over this. He minimised damage in defence, a pre season to combine that defence mentality with an attacking flair.

This would be hurting him, but a more competitive man you will not meet. He will correct this.

Me too. I just wanted to hear Roos take some responsibility, himself, for his coaching performance and his team which he selected and directed. Something that he failed to do in the presser.

I'm a Roos fan but these are awkward times for him and the club.

I hope that internally he and his coaching group examine the game plan because to be honest it's putrid. Roos and Jackson both talk of a game style that people want to watch. Well the truth is that we are the most unwatchable team in the AFL.

To be scoring less than 10 goals a game is a disastrous outcome.

I accept this year MAY be the first step in a grand plan but I also think it's worth asking the question as to whether the game has moved on while Roos has been in the media and he's out of date. If this year is the first step we need to be told because supporters who are welded on are starting to walk.

I don't see scoring less than 10 goals a game a nightmare but I did find leaking 120 points a year last year as disastrous. There is nothing wrong with the game plan. We can't execute skills or decisions forward of centre and if we did we have neither of the two main targets you would have hoped to be there to kick to. He will tinker with the game plan but if he believes in the way to win a flag is what he is progressing with he will more likely find the players that fit what he needs rather than vice versa.

Look @ the players he brought in Tyson, salem, vince all doing well... Dunn playing great.... When will the players take responsibility for their pathetic efforts???

Add the improvement from Pedersen Jetta Dunn aswell.

This forum judges blokes who have had 1 year (or less) pretty harshly. Why does he get 3 years. It seems that most agree that the past two coaches have had a detrimental impact on those players still listed but want that out of their minds/games now yet Roos is getting 3 years. The real assessment should be at the end of next season. He said as much last night where he said he would get thru this year, make his list changes, get another pre season in under his game plan so he should be judged at the end of next season.

if you get your dream job but for whatever reason your no good at it do you leave or do you stay, you'd stay, managers are paid to manage.players don't burn coaches, coaches burn clubs.

I'm more than happy to look at our current game plan in the mould of Roos focusing on the defence first. If, in 2015, we are not able to increase our scoring, then I think you will have much more of an argument. But where we are coming from, I'm happy with the decision to focus on stopping the onslaught first, getting that under control (to an extent), and then working on offence later.

Roos game plan seems pretty clear to me, if this year we had Hogan and Clarke which was our original expectation then we would not be having this same discussion about our inability to kick so few goals, these other two would have contributed something. Next year we will have hogan and dawes that still leaves us significantly reliant on these two for our scoring. Roos has done what he can with the players he has to try to boost the forward line by moving frawley there, not a lot of other options other than possiblty Howe and garland. I prefer Howe in the backline at the moment to provide a bit more marking power there especially for kick ins etc..

I think you're mixing up what you're seeing with the gameplan - they're two different things.

I suspect the real gameplan bears little resemblance to the turgid rubbish we've seen in recent weeks.

Don't worry, I spent more than enough time on the reality bus before I abandoned Neeld, but that's beside the point.

The general perception with Neeld was that he was implementing the Collingwood '10 'kick it long down the line' plan - it certainly seemed that way. Maybe he, too, had other offensive strings he was trying to add to the bow, that we never got to see. Clark was certainly one part of that.

Of course the Roos plan is also rooted in defence.

But don't the stats say that we're getting a lot more i-50's this year as opposed to 2012 and 2013 ? Even on Sunday, we had so much of the ball in the first half, plenty of action in and around 50m, just couldn't buy a goal to save ourselves.

I reckon the addition of Hogan will make a really big difference. No, I'm not expecting a bag of goals in his debut season. As much as I hate the word, I think he'll help with our 'structures', straighten us up, and perhaps enable some of the other cogs in the forward line to contribute more, Dawes being the obvious one.

I agree. His coaching on the weekend seemed reasonably stubborn, IMO. He practically didn't try anything until the third term and even then, it wasn't anything particularly drastic. We never altered our approach in terms of ball movement. We continued to go wide, when I think we may have been able to open up GWS if we'd used the corridor. He obviously doesn't want to engrain bad habits, but there needs to be some attacking flair. It is difficult though with the dire state of our list.

A very short time before Roos took over as head coach he was on record saying 'Melbourne will be lucky to win one game next year'.

After a shaky start to the season our trajectory seemed to be on a somewhat upward trend. Winning 4 games well before seasons end.

Then the wheel nuts started rattling loose......

We and the game lost Mitch Clark, Chip is looking ever more increasingly like he is gone.

We then get to the dreaded point of putting our hands out for a priority pick. Something none of us thought would happen midway through the year.

The landscape has changed considerably since our last win.

I don't think anybody would disagree that this trade period is the most important in the history of our club.

The wheels have well and truly fallen off and I feel (unfortunately) that the old field manual has been dusted off and 'operation goodwood' is underway.
