I remember he took a training session when I was playing with Yarrawonga back in 08. His knowledge of the game was quite unbelievable.

A ferocious trainer aswell.

My mate just posted this reminiscence he had about Hafey on Facey, sums him up i feel:

Sad news about the passing of Tom Hafey. As an 8 yr old I didn't believe my cousin that he lived near their house and that he'd actually been around there and met him. So on the push bikes we went and rocked up to this modest house in Highton.
Tom Hafey answered the door and invited us in for a lemonade and a choc chip cookie. We sat with him and his wife on the couch and he talked about the Cats side,(who he coached at the time). A humble and kind fella who gave an awe struck boy the time of day. RIP.

Champion bloke, was lucky enough to talk to him on a couple of occasions, taken way to early.

Used to see Tommy down at St Kilda beach when I went for a run, he would always stop and have a chat one of the nicest people you could meet. He used to have a swim after his exercises every day irrespective of the weather he was fanatical about fitness.

Sorry to hear this RIP Tom.

RIP Tommy. Great bloke. Heard him speak to my son's school a year or two ago. None of the kids knew who he was before that, but they were all impressed. He had a knack of being able to connect with people, and he loved going to talk to schools. Sadly missed.

Was lucky enough to have the same. Impressed he tried hard to remember everyones name at the session, what a great thrill it was to train under Tommy for a night and then have him speak to us as a group afterwards.

RIP Tommy

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
