Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The Jack Viney bump that never was!

Gerard Healy and Dwayne Russell both agree that it was the right decision made. They read out a bunch of messages from journos i.e gerard wheatley, mark robinson etc. who were infuriated by the decision and Wheatley and Russel followed by saying "how much AFL footy have they played" etc.

Absolute wankers.

to be fair they also prevaricated a bit

and both said that they could easily accept either decision (guilty/not guilty)

healy thought he would get off

What amazingly stupid comments. It was less than 1 second between the ball being 5 meters away from each player (and still bouncing meaning to could go any direction and at any pace) to the collision. He did not ELECT to bump. He didn't even bump. He collided with another player while chasing a bouncing oval shaped ball.

Crawl back into a very, very deep hole FFA.

It's okay, I'm listening.

Jack will always be hard, but now he'll be more discriminate.

Have it on good authority the media will be savaging the AFL for this decision and the farcical implications they're making for the game. Predicting a huge fallout.

I have it on good authority that the AFL is a basket case.

Bunch of vankers

A contest like that used to be considered a virtue of our game. It would have been used in advertisements for the next season. Two blokes with eyes for the ball go at it. It was tough and had no malice in it. Good luck advertising a game based on defensive zones and low scoring Gillon.

D'Land is in meltdown.

The boy is still with us. It's two weeks....not a lifetime.

There's a player with a wired up jaw tonight.

The head is sacrosanct.

It is sacrosanct, and seeing as you acknowledge that, you must value the head's capacity to make a decision and thinking freely. The decision to play the match in the first place.

so jack was supposed to pirouette out of that, and if he did not move quick enough the much heavier lynch with Georgio on his back would have cannonballed into Jack and could possibly have broken his back. So from now on ANY collision between two or more players must be avoided under the threat of suspension. Something must be done about this tribunal these guys are an absolute joke and blight on the game.

Tell that to Sylvia who had his jaw broken - WEst coast player not even cited.

Not surprised but bitterly disappointed. And how insulting to a player suggesting he could spin out of the way in a split second decision. No player in the history has ever pirouetted to avoid contact, every player is in fact taught to ride the bumps.

You look at it in slow motion and the reaction is quick. He slows and braces, he does not move towards the player to bump.

Gerard Whately made a great point, how can the tribunal rule in such a way that is contradictory to the rest of the competitions opinions?

Is there any risk with appealing the decision? If not I would really like us to appeal and defend our player to the hilt.

This is such a BS decision.

He's a brilliant player who will learn to be harder at the ball and avoid collisions.

That's what you are not getting. Now to be discriminate means pulling out of contests for the fear of causing injury.

It's not the weeks mate. I'd be dirty if he only got carryover points

Cannot be found guilty for that. This opens pandoras box. The impact isn't as big on team performance or outcomes because we're no good and its round 7.... but what happens if Ablett misses a GF because of something like that? Love/hate for certain players and teams aside, the game is worse off if we go down this path.

BT just standing up for us on 3AW, says it is an absolute joke. Healy disagreeing with him.

Dwayne Russel saying we are "sooking it up" as Roosy has canceled his interview with them. Healy (surprisingly) saying it is most likely because he is going straight to appeal, Russel is calling the MFC "sooks" as a reply to Healy.

Dwayne Russell is an absolute [censored] of the highest order. Stopped listening to 3AW nightly sports show when Hooksey passed on and that cretin Russell partnered Healy. He is full of crap and is an absolute ****head.

The urgency now is to come up with more grounds for an appeal. I didn't watch the hearing so I am not sure what we brought up, other than common-sense.

We need legal people and biomechanists on steroids to come up with something. The AFL want this to go away; they don't want an appeal…which will keep it in the media.

In terms of new grounds, the club only has 2 possible avenues.

1. The puffer-fish exhale.

Clearly, the footage shows Viney blowing out his cheeks ala Louis Armstrong as he "braces" for impact. If we can find footage of Viney executing bumps without this "bracing mechanism", this can be clearly used as new evidence IMO

2. The sudden drop in Lynch's head height evidenced by a few observations (eg. pelvic drop). Club could time it to nanoseconds.

Decisions like this will do nothing for a return to one on one contests and will merely perpetuate the ultra defensive scrum we witness now.

Absolutely criminal decision.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
