Christian Salem

Christian is going to be our next Superstar. Whilst I rate Hogan as much as everyone else, Salem is going to be it and a bit more! What a class act. Great Kick, excellent evasion skills, very good tackling, quickish speed, smart, but most importantly an absolute machine!!!

......and mentally tough and focussed

I think we have got most picks right in the last two years. Salem (plus Tyson), Brayshaw, Petracca, Stretch, ANB, JKH, O-Mac. They all look like they will be able to add to the side in the coming years, hard to say yet for Omac but the others have definitely shown promise.

Very early days for them all though. I guess I'm just excited at the evidence of a potentially good player developing in to an actually good player.

Wait, we have multiple players out there with poise, hardness, skill and resilience?

Having young players like Salem, Hogan and Brayshaw out on the field makes me feel a little bit like Melbourne has lit a candle and can now start properly searching for the fuse box.

Speaking of Nathan Freeman just saw that he has to have surgery on his troublesome hamstring and is expected to miss another 4 to 6 weeks..

Fair to say we dodged a massive bullet.

Kudos to Jason Taylor in nailing this pick.

Yep I'm on record as saying I wanted Sheed or Freeman but the club has really nailed this one. Salem will be a gun and is close to my favourite player.

Yep i was very big on Freeman. The thought of the next 'Dangerfield' running around for us was quite enticing. With his speed i think he will struggle throughout his career with persisted hamstring issues.

Don't get the hype on these two yet especially ANB. He has barely played a game, so is such an unknown, but people are already penciling him into "

Melbourne's next elite midfield brigade" etc.

But that's what supporters always do!

He is a star!!! (We just drafted him)

Will win four brownlows (got four kicks in game one)

Future captain and captain of our next flag (spoke well in a media conference)

I listed those two because we got them pretty cheaply (pick 40 and 53). They both seem to have the right attitude and are natural footballers which is worlds away from our previous drafting under Bailey.

"Not up to it" after his first bad turnover.

i have mates who follow the TAC cup really closely, and the general opinion was that Salem and Kelly were about neck in neck as the best mids they saw, they thought Freeman had some Dangerfield-like qualities but the other two were silky complete mids,

pick 9 i think will prove to be a steal

I'd like Jetta on Cyril, but love Salem to spend more time in the middle, maybe by pushing Lumumba's back to the HBF.

Weren't Salem and Kelly both Brighton Grammar boys (along with Jayden Hunt)? Must have been quite a team.

It's been a long 13 weeks, but the Garry Lyon mini-me is back.

Would love to know how he feels about the Arsenal's opening round loss at home to West Ham. Alas, we remain in the dark on that front. Hopefully he takes out any residual anger on the Dogs this weekend.

Welcome back Christian.

So happy this kid is back. I love watching him play, he has toughness/aggression and class. Above all he is a footballer, not an athlete. We've really missed him this year and hopefully his poise will straighten us up a bit transitioning from half back.

West Ham beat Arsenal?

Wowee!

Hammers were my favourite team years ago, but I've lost interest....

2-0 too.

Meanwhile, very glad to have Salem back in. If he could accumulate a few more touches, he would be such a damaging player. I look forward to him going into the midfield in time, but for now he should play off half back.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

POSTGAME: Rd 10 vs West Coast

Many warned that this was a danger game and the Demons were totally outclassed all game by a young Eagles team at Optus Stadium in Perth as they were defeated by 35 points.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
