That 1964 premiership was the pinnacle of our success and the end of a majestic era between 1954 and 1964 in which we won 6 flags and featured in eight grand finals. Ron Barassi and Frank "Bluey" Adams played in every one of those six premiership teams, Brian Dixon in five of them.

It was a great feeling to wake up every Saturday morning and know you were going to win that day. Losing never came into the equation.

I listened to the game on the radio as I couldn't obtain tickets. I was cursing and wishing we had back the old system of queuing up before the game. I was on a ladder painting when Neil Crompton kicked the sealer. Nearly came a big cropper.
