Was a top bloke. Very very sad news

Agree.

That is a nice way to remember him, as a top bloke.

Condolences to his family and friends.

This has knocked me for a loop. So sad.

I had a long chat to Bails when he rang for my daughter on one of the membership drives. After 15 minutes or so covering a range of topics including kids, schools, growing up in the eastern suburbs and eventually footy I said “shouldn’t I be letting you go ? Don’t you have to make a lot more calls ?”

“Nah mate, it’s ok. I’m always happy to talk about footy”. So on we went for another 10 minutes or so.

Just seemed like a ripping bloke. As WYL said, I’d have loved to have knocked over a couple of jugs with him

RIP Dean, very sad news.

Never met him personally but a good mate that knew him socially told me he was a really good bloke. Sure seemed that way from the outside looking in.

I always have thought to myself, that in spite of the results and aftermath of his time at the club, if I were to bump into him I'd still make sure I shook his hand and thanked him for his time there.

I'm saddened that I'll never get that chance.

I felt exactly the same. Just a quality bloke with a wry sense of humour. R.I.P Bails.

You'll never meet anyone who won't describe Bails as a great bloke, including people that never met him, that's just how much he was liked.

Sad for football, and a tragedy for the world to lose another fantastic person.

It's a cruel world ....... a good man taken way too early.

Football is so insignificant in the greater scheme of things!

RIP Dean.

Very sad news, another good person taken way too early by this terrible disease. He was always a positive person and no doubt loved by a lot of the players.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
