Calm down. Every time someone has some constructive criticism, it isn't necessary for the white knight to ride in. M was merely pointing out his observations, which he was well within his right to do, and you had to come in and make it personal. Get off the high horse and accept that our players can improve aspects of their game. Further, we the supporters, are quite right to observe these trends and demand improvement. No one is saying improvement is impossible, just that for the team to improve past second last, we need to, as M put it, 'iron out' these flaws in our game.

100% spot on AF

He certainly seems very willing to take on whatever is asked of him. None of this "that ain't my role" stuff.

For his size his ruck competitiveness is a revelation.

Well done Cam.

Yes, he made me look foolish last year for thinking he could be a good second ruck option.

There is a spot for him if he continues the way he is going - your second ruck needs to be able to play elsewhere - you can't hide on the bench anymore.

It does, and about Matt Jones, Rohan Bail, Dean Terlich. The reality is that most reckon they're stopgap players at best, when in fact they've all held their spots with aplomb so far this season.

I think they are the players that are beginning that natural incline of improvement that the development wasteland of the MFC has lacked for so long.

It's nice to see now that what should be happening, is actually beginning to happen.

I've tried to steer clear from this thread... Because I have my own views on Pederson as a player and I know they would not resonate with everyone from the wider demonland community.

But I will say this:

Good job over the last two weeks Cam. Back it up.

Touch of evil here, STMJ ;)

Pedersen and Dunn are classic Roos mature project talls - LRT, maybe Ted Richards, maybe even Craig Bolton.

its nice to see that this current footy dept demands that our players are not front runners, & one dimensional, & not bruise free at end of games. Not one way runners. Tthat they have to tackle, to chase to help one another, & to learn to be footy smart at all the basic non negotiables.

and the results make the whole club more confident, hopeful & Happy.

Ha, not evil...

But this is the level he must now play at week in week out.

this is a similar talk thinking about Dunns early career. yes they can still drop the head occasionally with the overhead ball, but Pederson seems more willing to run head on into oncoming traffic.

they are both limited but steadily improving which is all we can ask.

If anyone who thinks the nickname Pedo for Cam Pederson is a little creepy don't fear there's an alternative!

Cam had a fear of buttons when he was growing up...so there you go...buttons

keep the good work up buttons!

Is there a spot on the Demonland Banner for him? Could set a record for quickest transition from 'deelist' to 'bannerworthy'.

Banner or not, loved how he has been able to turn his fortunes around. Has gone from being a whipping boy to starting 22 (and good on him too!!!).

Hope he keeps it up, amazing what confidence can do. I'd love to see him use his big body a little bit more. In no way a detraction, but someone of his size could really impact the game physically, not recklessly, but positively to advantage the team. Similar to how Dawes goes about it (minus the forearms).

Took some good grabs today as well as his tackling and pressure. Excellent stuff from the big man. Meanwhile, how's Gysberts going?................Came out on top in that trade!

Not until Dun gets his rightful place on the DL banner!

Good to see he repeated the mantra he told me at training, "just play your role and don't try too much"

I actually think he tried a lot. Launching himself at every marking contest and being pretty successful.

His attack on the ball this season has been very impressive and his overall improvement has been staggering.

Roos has often stated that he's not a miracle worker, I tend to disagree with him

cant believe Mark Neeld only signed this guy for 3 years

Now we risk losing him at the end of 2015

Damn you Neeld!!!!!

I await the inevitable Demonland reaction, the transition to "stroke of genius by Todd Viney" from "another wasted Neeld selection"

I really thought this guy a spud.

Turning into a decent utility. Great.

Hope it continues.

Your thoughts on Pederson?

I thought he was ok in 2013. If you ignore the head ducking incident of round 1, he was a decent servant for us in 2013. Provided good depth and had no dramas getting possessions and contested marks in defence. Got some coaches awards votes in the second GWS game. Can take a contested mark either forward in back.

I think Pederson is underated around here and should provide solid depth next year.

Good thread BBP.

I think you should start another thread suggesting whether Pedo could be the All Australian centre half fwd in 2015.

I'm getting excited to see the players development over the next year. To see Pederson come out and play like that and even Max Gawn in comparison to his previous year is astonishing. I really hope those players we have drafted during that period who are at Casey (Strauss, Tapscott, Blease & co) turn it around under Roos like so many have already. Exciting times.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
