I'd keep Blease, under a proper coach I think there is enough to work with.

Tappy should be played at half back, best position for him. Better option than Clisby IMO.

Rubbish. Clisby performed at a far higher standard than Tapscott this year, and showed much more consistency, both from week to week and within a game.

Tapscott has not played an AFL-standard four-quarter game his whole career.

now that Sylvia is gone why not settle Tappy in as a high half forward where he's played his "best" footy?

Because his 'best' hasn't really ever been good enough?

Having said that, I doubt he could be traded for anything more valuable, so if we do keep him, then this is the role I'd probably give him. He needs to shed some weight (or whatever will let him pick up some speed).

The only reason I'm for keeping Blease and Tappy is because their current balance between value and potential is so uneven.

Tapscott's the sort of player (read spud) that Carlton's old regime would have picked up from us. Given that's he's still contracted and they'd have to give up something for him, he won't be at the CFC next year. :P

Blease could be a replacement roommate for Scully in some sort of deal for Shiel?

Although if that isn't an option I'd prefer to keep him, he goes and we become 50% slower.

I wonder if Richmond are still into Tapscott, give us Nahas in return. Not that I rate him, but he's more use to us than Tapscott.

Nahas! OMG

Pity we took Blease (pick 17) instead of Shuey (pick 18) and Tapscott (pick 19) instead of Fyfe (pick 20) in their respective drafts.

Trade them by all means. But only if the value's there. Otherwise I think we need to persevere with them.

Honestly, I'd very much like to see what a couple of years under Roos would do to these two, but I can see why they are being shopped around. Both have a lot of potential but really haven't shown more than the odd glimpse with us. It may well be another case of a trade being the best choice for both parties.

Are you trying to antagonise me?

I'm sure everyone is familiar with the idea buy low, sell high. Blease and Tappy should be kept.

My concern with Tappy is that I saw him miss some one-on-one marks with him on the lead. A true HFF has some tricks to make sure those marks are taken. (Pushing back on your defender, changing the angle of the lead to the ball, accelerating, decelerating, etc.)

If Blease get's a tank and so that he can use his speed all game, he will look like a totally different player.

They can both play. Need someone who knows what they're talking about in their ear.

Both can play. They just need CONFIDENCE. Blease has lacked it since he started, but he should be owning a wing on the G with his ability.

Blease doesn't only lack a tank, but needs a liberal dose of something else! So many times he goes down and rather than perservere tends to take the easy option, this especially if playing poorly!

It'd have to be the last yer for both.. Blease picks and chooses when to play and Tapscott just can't play tall enough to be a half foward like Sylvia.. Should have a crack in the midfield, if he can't handle the running de list him!

Shuey had bad run with injuries for a while there and Fyfe was "another skinny kid" when he was drafted. I doubt they'd be the player they are today at the Dees.

the Pity is not who we have picked but our 'development plan'. It seems like we planned to draft a whole heap of kids and throw them in the deep end and hope they learned how to swim butterfly. What we ended up with was a whole team of kids who can only doggy paddle.....

Hope springs eternal, but the writing is on the wall with Tappy. By now he should've shown at least something. Aside from a few good bumps, what has he provided? I can't remember a single stand out game.

There's a reason for that. Sylvia had the same balance.

So do you trade two high draft picks off for nothing or do you give them a year under their first decent coach ever? Their value isn't going to go down.

We have obviously been watching the same guy in the same games P-man.

I made a effort to watch him this year and saw bugger all.

I believe that sentence covers it RB.

They both have contracts for 2014 so if no value offered they stay we will know for certain if they are any good this time next year.

It is not as though this pair will stop us playing finals next year.

Could their value get any lower than it is right now? I'm not against trading them, but continually trading away players when their value is at its lowest just continues the cycle.

I quite agree. Both first round draft picks so clearly have considerable natural ability. With superior coaching, they will both improve considerably. We would be selling them now at the bottom of the market. I'd hold on to them and see what happens.

Tapscott I think is a case in point. He was drafted because he was hard at the ball and an AMAZING huge kick for goal. And if you looked at his highlight reels as a draftee he certainly was.

Have we seen any of it at the MFC?

No!

It has been our incompetent coaching which was the problem. Roos will fix this. Both these guys have a great upside. Let's take advantage of it, rather than trading them in for has has beens, or never will be's.

There is a hugh assumption in that statement Dees2014.

It also may be that his big body got him places at junior level and his talent is junior level.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
