Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

These blokes on SEN are making me feel sick. They are defending Essendon, and being so gentle on them, it is disgusting. If this was Melbourne, the drilling that Melbourne would be receiving in unfathomable.

Why does the media HATE Melbourne so much? I do not get it, what have Melbourne done that has hurt the media that much?

You have to feel for the players. They were duped and will probably have to pay the consequences and because of the tough requirements of ASADA, it could mean their livelihoods.

If Essendon is sanctioned by the AFL over this, I want no premiership points for last week's disgraceful effort. Even if the Bomber players had administered substances that weren't legal last year, we've done nothing to earn any points. The very thought is repugnant.

Maybe because a key host is the father of the captain?

Is anyone else going blue from holding their breath? I'm still worried we have some blokes who did the same crap. However does anyone remember when Hird came back after a year off and looked like the Incredible Hulk?

Anyway at least we get the 4pts back or are they just not awarded?

Not awarded, but we'd get our % back. If they are banned or whatever.

They'll wriggle out of it somehow, they won't roll over and cop it sweet.

Seems to me like the written media is more harsh than the audio/visual media. Whenever I hear it or see it on TV it's all poor Essendon this and that, I don't get it - is it because they're mostly ex players? What, they'd rather have Essendon in the comp than punish malpractice and cheating?

Yet we get every orifice torn apart no matter what we do.

I actually have little care about this stuff at the moment. We have a lot more to worry about with our own club.

It's because they fear Essendon. They're scared that their supporters will not listened or watch their shows. They're scared of legal action. They're scared of upsetting the apple cart. Unfortunately nobody is scared of the MFC .

To Caro's credit, she's gone hard on Essendon and demanded coach, CEO and president be sacked.

Fatprick Smith has also gone hard IIRC.

So Caro slams Hird and Robbo & Ralphy quick to report their beloved Essendon champions denial.

Posted (edited)

I guess they are just reporting that Stephen Dank said he injected him with this stuff. Dont shoot the messenger. Its no different to the age reporting comments from ex players and officials who said we set out to lose games. Its because its James Hird and he is the golden boy.

You know what I woke up today put the radio on and they were not talking about us. Caro has taken the focus off us. Thankyou.

I just wish this had come out last week!!

No you don't. Because then they would have had an excuse to whitewash the drug scandal or move it off the front page

Our performance may have been better.

Losing by 148 points was not good for my health!!!

Hird wont go. He will deny it. As someone said on SEN we all thought Lance was clear. Plus everyone thinks the sunshine out of him. He is a protected species.

Caro didnt even write the story on the front page and its also in the herald sun. yet all I heard this morning is people bagging her. I guess she is an easy target.

But my thought is why would Dank say this. Yes he may be bitter but Hird could take further action on this so why risk it.

Maybe Hird didn't realise what he was being given.

Going to drop verrrrrry sooooonn... Hird to step down? Pitty bomber will do a better job anyway

This from Jake Niall's article in today's Age:

the AFL can no longer take any pride in the empirical fact that no AFL footballer since 1997 has recorded a positive test for WADA-banned substances (Richmond's Justin Charles being the last one).

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/smorgasbord-of-drugs-on-offer--legal-and-otherwise-20130410-2hlvh.html

Niall also says:

In effect, the expert told and sold the officials on the possibilities - and there were a hell of a lot of them. Much of what was being offered couldn't be detected via drug testing. Other substances were not banned; still others weren't even on the radar of the World Anti-Doping Agency.

It was possible, the expert said, for the players to have specific amino acids tailored for their body.

Personally I think it is unlikely that the Chief Football Writer for The Age will find it possible to objectively investigate and cast her opinions on Richmond FC's involvement if any, and on the culture at Richmond in Justin Charles' time there.

Hence this thread, for as the stories develop.

If Essendon goes down for these charges, what will happen with their premiership points for this season? If they lose them, does that mean we gain 4 points from last week, or does the AFL look at our performance, laugh and give them to a losing side that actually made an effort?

If Essendon go down for this they will be finished as a club, they wont be able to retain there players, it will have massive affects for there sponsorship, you only have to look at Lance Armstrong, the AFL must be very worried about there situation.
