Did I walk into "the have a sook about players having time off thread"?

I heard that Bernie Vince character is on holidays as well. May or may not be Europe. If the trade goes through then we should delist him straight away. We need to be tough on them right from the start if we want to be taken seriously.

Any chance of delisting Byrnes, no offence but he did FA this year and I saw photo's of him parading around in Europe...I just thought that is bullsheet, what a waste...let's get Dayle Garlett to play wing half forward .who's keen for that ?? He could stay with the Viney's with Jimmy & Hoges.

Mate you can't delist a bloke for having a holiday.. He actually polled a few votes in out b n f. And seems to be liked down at the club I'm not a fan of him but seriously? Maybe delist him for his lack of pace and skill, too old failed project.

However Dayle Garlett is worth a look!

Talking about trading Byrnes, but we got a problem....Melbourne is the only team that wants him....because of his 'experience' ! Pick 36 Garlett, give this guy the opportunity to travel and see Europe...maybe Amsterdam what do you reakon?

Kennedy for 2... Pass but I don't hate the Brisbane deal.

You have to look at what other clubs need and what we have too much of, the lions lack key forwards and have more mids.. We can't play fitz Clark hogan (Gawn resting) Howe and Dawes all in the same forward line, far too top heavy!

Off load Fitzpatrick while he has currency..

Yep... I don't hate the Brisbane idea. I want Fitz to succeed but I'd love him to succeed in blue and red.

Looks like we get vince for 20, and an interesting deal in the brewing with GWS.. 2 for buntine, bugg and pick 9

Interested to see what people think of this deal.

Buntine, Bugg and Pick 9 for Pick 2. We add a younger backman who is highly rated, a good if unspectacular footballer in Bugg and a pick inside the top 10 for our second selection. I think it's a decent deal, not one to jump for joy over but certainly not a bad one either.

Here was what Knightmare said about Buntine is his 2011 phantom draft:

"Profile: Real standout in this year’s draft who had a surprisingly poor u18 championships but was struggling with injury at the time, so that is forgivable. None the less is an absolute standout talent in this year’s draft. Can play down back or through the midfield well and has that really high skill level and ability to read the play. Reads the ball very well. Very good user of the footy. Can play against players of all sizes and can shut down opposition dangermen. Can play off his man and provide super rebound. Has no problem winning the hard ball. Not a high level athlete but his smarts more than compensate for this. Has that flexibility to play the role you need him to play. "

Sounds pretty good to me. Always thought of him as a backman but is 188cm, 84kg, and can well and truly play through the middle or across half back by the sounds of it.

Could we add Michie, Vince, Buntine, Bugg and someone with Pick 9? Doesn't sound too bad to me.

Key point to this trade are what Bugg and Buntine bring to us? Can anyone enlighten us?

I like it! Buntine is a 190cm defender, Bugg can play middle or small back, and pick 9 gets us crouch, sheed, freeman, taylor ect!!!

Pick 20 for Vince, pick 36 for Lyons, Pick 21 for Myers (potentially) and if we could get back into the draft around 30ish we have a shot at Zak Jones!

I posted what Knightmare said about Buntine a couple of years ago. Bugg was a pre-selection so someone with better knowledge than me may be able to enlighten us a bit more, but from what I know he can play across half back and through the middle as well.

So that would leave us with picks 9, Silvia compo (21?), 38ish and a rookie upgrade pick/s around 70 and 88.

Bugg, Buntine, Vince, Michie, maybe Crouch (9) and Z Jones (21) and possibly Cross as a DFA. Not bad.

On paper it looks ok as we get pick 9...but Bugg & Buntine are both defenders...dont we need midfielders????

Remember Wells, Cotchin, Nataintui, H Bennell were pick 2!!!

Yuck.

Unless... Mfc write who they want to select in a dated, sealed envelope and open it and show us after they pick him, then I'm down with it.

I want Shiel for pick 2, not spare parts blokes.

I like Bugg as a really nice effort guy. Might not be the worlds most skilled player but he's a Paul Roos type for sure. Could play midfield, back or small defensive forward.

Buntine is the deal maker though. He's the one you either say the talent is still their at a high level or not and decide whether to do the trade. He's got that height that comes in handy at half back and is a natural footballer in terms of reading the play.

Personally we replace Roh Bail or Tapscott with Bugg as defensive forward and we replace Dunn with Buntine as that mid sized defender. That's the benefit of this trade. The downside is we go back 7 places in the draft. Obviously that means no Kelly, Aish or Scharenberg if we believe the phantom drafts. Maybe no Billings either. That's a top 5. But we still have a few handy mids to choose from - Lewis Taylor, Freeman, Matt Crouch, Kolodjashnij, Sheed.

Hey on reflection can I change my question to " Key point to this trade is what do B&B bring to us?" Sorry for this lapse in grammar.

I've got mixed feelings. Bugg was one of the pre-listed players and has played some good football.

Buntine was a high draft pick. Pick 5. But hasnt been selected too often. Not sure if he was injured.

Both have been playing as defenders. Think Bugg may be able to push into the middle this year.

I would be really happy to get pick 9 though. Means we still get a good pick and two players.

Buntine could very well be the big bodied 190cm type that we need in the midfield. And whilst we still have Dunn and co in our backline we aren't exactly classified as a top class backline.

Again it depends on how we rate the talent but remember Hogan and Martin should be in this draft, so pick 2 is really a pick 4.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
