Just so sick of all the turnovers. We hardly ever get to keep possession of the ball for more than a third or half the field before gifting it back to the opposition.

What I did notice was the Blues chipping it around until they got it to a player in position to kick a goal. When we get the ball we hack it forward, if we are lucky or kick it sideways to the opposition. For every chip I'll see you with a misdirected hack.

Give me cheap possessions over none any day, give me a kick to a team mate over a hack to the opposition. I just can't understand how anyone can defend today's debacle, it looked to me as if Carlton were just going half pace.

I'm not defending it, I am providing a reason for the indifference, why does any person who provides a differing view have to be accepting mediocrity or happy with losing in other supporters eyes

not having a go with the next statement but not sure if or what level you played Robbie but think back to playing with confidence down and you just want to get the ball away so you don't get caught you just hack it as far away as possible. It's sad but you are selfish and would rather not be the one who lets the team down, I've been there and it is only experience that helps you develop the temperament. Although some boys just step in from day 1 with a cool head

Carlton may have looked half paced today but we brought some intensity today and in my eyes showed there is something to work with

They tried today, just had no polish and nothing up forward. Bad turn overs thar where just deflating. You just cant turn the footy over off half back. Good effort, we are just not good enough

There were some real positives today but I've got to say, McKenzie isn't one of them. He is very, very slow.

Why the hell don't we ever handball and link up coming out of defence? Its just kicking, all we do is kick. Run the bloody footy! Neeld what are you doing?!?!

Because every time we handball we pick out the opposition or a team mate that's under more pressure than we are. Our players have no idea how to position themselves and create space. How many times today did we actually trip over our own team mate, or spoil him in a marking contest, we either have all up or no one up. We continually kick the ball in to the forward line to the advantage of the defender not our own forward.

Notice how we always seem to be on the boundary line waiting for the handball and leaving ourselves no where to go, whereas they had men free in the middle waiting for the ball to come out. We really have no idea.

Any news on Grimes?

you wanna build a culture? Trengove needs a spell in the VFL either he's not fit or he is out of form, either means he shouldn't be in an AFL team others had to earn a spot in.

McDonald can go with him.

I have never seen a team beaten so comprehensively in marking contests - absolutely rubbish

this is apart from the appalling skills and decision making

a better team would have beat us by more than 100 points

i really don't think i can watch this anymore

When we lose next week, this site will be going into overdrive, then we shall see what everyone has to say

Just got home. On a negative note, we still kick to packs or certainly not to advantage. On a positive note, there was a semblance of desperation, Tapscott is a competitor, Kent did ok and love the development of a Michael Evans.

Some amazingly bad skill errors, particularly in disposal. I like Tom Mc, but his kicking is just awful. Appears as if the preseason was all fitness work and no skill development.

Our forward structure was a mess today.

Gawn was our key target today and he tried hard but couldnt hit the scoreboard.

Where were our crumbers today? I didn't see Byrnes much and I have no idea why Davey was dropped.

Kent tried hard in his first game and did ok. He looks like a tough footballer.

Howe had no impact and Trengove couldn't impose himself when he was moved to FF.

Hopefully Dawes is fit and firing and will play next week.

The Gold Coast game next week has suddenly become very similar to the GWS one in that it may cost Mark Neeld his job if we lose. We need a win, a big win.

I don't know what's more disappointing out of Melbourne's fade out after 2006, John Lennon's fadeout after 1968 or Lynda Carroll's item on demon swapcards which totally ignores our glory era of the 50's and 60's.

I think I saw Strauss about three times.

Same, all in the first quarter.

Frustrating, but I'm not totally doom and gloom. Happy with the fact we had a crack after losing Grimes early. Our newer draftees are showing something and some of the older players like Frawley and Garland look like they are retuning to some form.

If, and it's a big if, we can clean up our foot skills we will improve rapidly (as in get ut of bottom 4....). We should have drawn even at half time but for lack of finishing and those agonising defensive turn overs.

Some +ves for me

  • Spencil and Gawn could be a good tandem combination.
  • Tappy showed some physicality. If he can bring 4 1/4's.......
  • Matt jones. Keeper

Some -ves

  • Bail. Needs to nail his opportunities. We need score board pressure and he should have kicked 6 in the past fortnight.
  • Tom Mc. Get hm out until he fixes his kicking.
  • Trengrove. Must be injured.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
