While I will always be a Demons supporter through and through, I have watched more non-MFC games this season than I ever have before. I've come to enjoy watching many non-Demon players and marvel at their skills. Who is your favourite non-MFC player to watch? Are there any names you can think of that should be added to the list? Why do you like watching these players?

It's hard not to be impressed by Gary Ablett. We knew he was good at Geelong, but after his move to the Suns, without the supporting cast he had at the Cats, I think he's shown how great he really is.

Luke Hudge is another I like to watch, although he hasn't been out on the park much this season.

Most definitely Ablett. In awe of his ability to win the ball and accelerate out of trouble. Gut runs as well.

Pendlebury also makes things look very easy while agree with someone above and enjoy the way Hodge goes about it.

Franklin of the current players. Too fast, too tall, too strong and too freaky for any one player.

Ablett Snr and Carey of the older set.

Also saw the tail end of Hudson. Was unstoppable

Pendles and he is exactly what we need, shame he signed earlier this year... Don't know why but I had some hope we were going to throw massive cash at him and maybe snare him, both our on field and off field dramas think quashed this pretty quickly

Bartel & Hodge for mine. Love watching Ablett, Franklin & Rioli's freakish skills, but love the hardness of Bartel & Hodge and their abilties to just get the job done when it matters. I'm hoping Trengove is another player in their mould.

I'm with you, especially Luke Hodge - monstrous competitive spirit. No quarter asked, none given.

Bartel for me, tough, takes good grabs and kicks goals

Also like watching Judd and Ablett

Dont rate Pendles as much as most

it's to depressing watching 2 sides play well at the moment...i prefer to watch movies inbetween Demons Thrashings at present.

I must admit wyl I am similar.

However I have signed on mentally as a Hawks follower.

I might even squeeze in a live game in the next few weeks

Not sure if they are playing on our bye weekend but that might be it

PS just checked they play the Lions on our week off that will be a slaughter so maybe not

In terms of skill when Buddy is on fire he is incredibly exciting. Reminds me of what Ablett Snr. and Carey used to do in terms of becoming the sole focus of a game.

For endeavor I love Ablett Jnr, Bartel, and this year Lenny Hayes.

I also love to see the mature aged recruits do well. It's good for the game and flies in the face of some of the over thinking that goes into player development. Some blokes just have the desire. Pods, Tory Dixon, our very own Mitsubishi.

Paul Chapman. Tough, uncompromising and brilliant. Love to have him in our side. Goal sense is fantastic. Ablett and Judd also great to watch.

P.S. Just read that Chapman played with Melbourne reserves before he was drafted in 1999. A big fish who got away. We had him and let him go.

No love for Patty D?

Ablett is probably the best foodballer ever?

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
