When was the last time we played the Dogs at the G?

The last I remember is the game where we came back from being about 40 points down, and White got us in front with a goal from the 50m line.

Edit: 2010. When the umpires wore pink, clashing with us. Lost by 4 points. I was holidaying in the USA at the time - almost thankfully.

I was at that game. we left at the 15 minute mark of the final q, got to the car, turned on the radio and sprinted back in to witness a nail biting last few minutes. Hence will never give up again.

I reckon Neeld was right to be worried at his press conference about supporter morale. GWS showed more in a couple of quarters than we have this year.

The Dogs will thrash us. In fact, GWS and Gold Coast are going to really put us under pressure (GC almost beat us late last year if I recall rightly).

Just ugly.

Look, it's no secret that we are playing crap, but what you have written above is just sensational generalisation.

We have in fact played sufficiently well in patches of all three games, We played well enough for the first half against the tigers and whilst we broke even in the final quarter the game had finished and it doesn't' really count except to say we didn't allow it to blow out more than it already had done.

To say the GWS has shown more in a couple of quarters than we have for the whole year is just wrong. Feel free to say that the GWS showed some fight in the last quarter against the Eagles ... yeah fine, I can accept that.

The pessimism in this site is at an all time high

I tipped the Tigers to win as soon as we lost to Brisbane. I think we can, and probably will, win this Sunday against the dogs. They did score a pathetically low score against the Saints, who are primarily a defensive team (although I acknowledge that is changing with Watters at the helm).

If we lose this weekend, then I will be joining the "we are absolutely [censored]" brigade.

Both teams are learning new games plans so there will 36 blokes running around with NFI of what's going on.

I am a shattered man. I am 28. I have been a member since I was 19. For the last 5 years, I have NEVER left early or turned the tv off. Not during the drubbings to hawthorn and doggies round 1 and 2 a few years ago. Not during the 186 point loss did I turn the tv off. Not during West Coast's game 2 weeks ago. I vowed to support this club through thick and thin. Show the resilience and determination to see off any obstacle.

On Saturday I left at 3/4 time. I sat in my chair when I got home and just felt broken. I'm usually the most positive/optimistic/hopeful person when it comes to this club that I love. But I wonder whether this club has broken me.

Are there others out there that can shed light on this feeling?

I think I just needed to vent this. I have such a heavy heart right now. urgh.

Not sure there is anything that can be said that will make you feel better D4L

I feel the same way, After 48 years most of them poor I cannot remember feeling like we will not win a game this year after 3 rounds.

There has been some poor years amongst those years but never like this.

The only consulation for is, imagine what it feels like after waiting 48 years.

Yes I know it does not matter to you.

Perhaps the only way is find something to fill in your weekends in 2012 and then 2013 may be better.

Sometimes the only way to releave the pain is to remove the source.

Bugger all help really D4L. But you are not alone.

Hmm. Boyd, Griffen, Cooney, Cross, Dalhaus..Midfield.

What was Sloonie's concoction again..?

Luckily their forward line is pox. Any market for less than 6 goals scored in total?

Same as Old Dee, been to the GF to see us flogged.

I was shattered this week and the week before and the one before.

Maybe you and old dee should go talk to the players and tell them what it feels like.

Not a bad idea

to get a few demonlanders to talk to the players about pride and passion effort etc maybe get them to read the threads and make their own comments

Neeld has adressed the fact that fans are stakeholders so he may even support this idea

Of course it would be necessary to select those supporters with care Cant deny the passion of most but some too negative on selective issues (Self included)

Doesn't seem to be much love lost on their playing mates from what we've seen dished up so far (with the exception of a few). Look at the non-response the players had when Grimes got smashed by Waters last week. So i doubt whether many are giving much thought to the supporters at this point.

Whatever spirit was at the club last year, and there at least appeared to be something there (at least up till 186)....it's well and truly gone this year from where i sit.

Got a half baked theory. There is a real syndrome called Seasonal Affective Disorder - 'SAD'. It describes the increase in down feelings, depression, melancholy or whatever you want to call it as winter approaches, then arrives and sunlight hours in the day get to their minimum.

I don't suffer from SAD, but am getting a bad case of what I would like to call 'FAD'® - 'Football Affective Disrder'. That sinking feeling that it's going to be a long, long winter. The hopelessness of seeing your team get pantsed by previously unworthy opponents. The frustration at seeing us getting outsmarted in tactics, with no obvious coaching moves to counter it. And just the gut wrenching horror of seeing (insert your favourite whipping boy player here) just totally stuff up and turn the ball over.

I'm not a big interweb user, but I've never seen so many people use the word 'depressed' in a forum until this site, this year.

2nd theory - Beyond Blue for our BOJ sponsor is a great match up this year.

seriously no more statement games. Wasn't the friday night game last year against the bombers a statement game? Then after 186 add Broadbridge, Jim stynes illness and now his tribute game. Can't we just win because our players are better, our gameplan is better and we the supporters are better looking then the opposition? NO MORE STATEMENTS! JUST WIN BABY!

I feel pretty much the same, I left before 3 quarter time on Saturday, the first time ever, I just couldn't be bothered anymore I felt totally disassociated from the game. I think I've just had enough and I don't know if I really want to go anymore. I have a couple of lunches to go to and if it wasn't for them I doubt I'd go again this year. I can't read the Club website anymore because it's just the same old, same old. I have read about a quarter of the posts on here and get started on a thread then lose interest and move on.

It's quite depressing football has been a huge part of my life and all of a sudden it just seems pointless.

I agree, i think its our job as supporters to support the club. obviously we shouldnt always be happy with what is going on but if Neeld thinks we might drop off i think we need to show him that we do love the Dees

First time in 11 years of following Melbourne that I left a game early.

Never have I felt so numb or apathetic toward the club and footy in general. In a way I'm jealous of you, because losing used to hurt me, now I feel nothing but resentment. It's a really bad place to be for someone who loved this club more than almost anything else.

Not sure I could bring myself to go on Sunday if it wasn't for Jim's memorial.

You have described my feeling perfectly RobbieF

Thank God I am leaving the country next week, normally I would be straight onto the internet to get the scores

Not this time it will be great to be blissfully ignorant

So far this season we have played everyone into form....Sunday will be no different, i am sick of being optimistic, i do not see us winning a game all year, the few gimmies i thought we had at the start were lost, now i have no faith in beating any team!

Robbie I doubt anything I say would make any difference because I see the problem as beyond the need for enthusiasm.

IMO our playing stocks are poor no matter how hard they try they simply cannot bridge the skill gap.

I think that is my biggest problem, I believe they are doing their best.

They simply cannot do better.

The Rebuild of the last few years has been IMO a diasterous failure.

We are ( again IMO ) destined to be a poor team for a number of years into the future

I don't know if I want to endure that any longer.

At this point in time we are the worst team in the competition in my view. The Bulldogs aren't great but neither are Brisbane or Richmond. Bulldogs by 30 to 45 points for me.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
