Slowest player I've ever seen. When running he looks like he's wading through Port Phillip Bay with seaweed caught around his legs. Being slow in itself, while not desirable, would be OK if he compensated with deft tap work or strong contested marks. But he doesn't seem to have those skills, either.

Yeah all true - i wonder how long he will draw defenders because he doesnt look like he can do anything other than stand at this stage. He did do a few decent taps.

Posted

He seems to have some hunger - I've seen a few optimistic chases and uses his body well but as has been said, just way to slow. Crashes the packs well, wouldn't mind a mark now and then though!

Posted

If he could mark he'd be a good player. As it is he's a less athletic Stefan Martin that wins less of the ball.

wheres all the love for this bloke!? pulled bellchambers and ryders pants down and took the game saving mark! cops a bit on here but boy jee he looked good down back! id give him first hand on cloke next week.

well done james you played a ripper!!

Was pretty good tonight, loved that Neeld had the balls to do what we've all wanted for 3 years, put Garland forward, and credit to Sellar for doing his job to make it work.

credit where credit is due!

thought he was huge!

Sellar was very good, and tonight he showed he can kick and run. I have to admit being very surprised but he definitely earned his place tonight.

Needs another good one next week.

Perspective says he's had one good match for the season so far.

Here's hoping he gains confidence and cements a spot in the side. Big body and has some talent.

And wasn't it great to see the joy and passion on Clarks face when the siren went! Only been in the club for a short time but wants us to win desperately. Copped a heavy knock in lower back early in the match.

Clark looked like we had just won a flag, he seems rapt to be at Melbourne.

Certainly will need another one like tonight next week with the gorilla Cloke. Fitted into the defence very well.

Poor Blease can't take a trick - did anyone see if it was a kick?

If Frawley is back it will allow Garland Another hit up forward vs the Filth.

Good coaching and selection.

Posted

Said it before, but he spent all pre-season playing back and looked ok and then as soon as the real stuff starts he goes forward, looked completely lost and was just generally not up to it. Goes back tonight and plays a pearler.

Actually has a lot of good traits as a defender who can play on the resting ruckmen or gorilla forwards. Will watch with interest over the next few weeks, and hopefully he stays back.

Posted

Why wasn't Sellar in the middle of the song with Clark and Magner? New boys first win I would have thought?

Posted

Yep hes a back, not a forward and gives us options with Garland

Would still like to see Tom Mac get the job on Cloke though

Posted

He was far better as a defender than i've seen as a forward/ruck. He could hardly get a touch in that role and he got 18 possessions tonight and kept Ryder out of the game completely

Posted

Gotta say he wasn't bad, not great but certainly not bad. Fingers crossed Frawley in for old Macdonald then next week.

Nevertheless, Old MacDonald wasn't bad tonight was he?

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
