Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Riewoldt and Roughead are not on a million at all. They all took pay cuts to keep a competitive list together. Boyd is the doggies being desperate, but hey it got em a flag. Buddy is worth every penny and so is Kennedy. Even then i'm not sure what Kennedy is on.

One million.... that's the currency for a modern key forward.

Riewodlt took a million dollar pay cut (250k times 4  for example) so they could draft Lynch at 1.2M p.a plus... (think again)

No it's not. Premierships is the price. Geelong and Hawthorn had 0 million dollar players. We should hold our ground and leave the cap where it is now.

I understand all of what you're saying, but I disagree.

Hogan has the potential to be a generational player. May is 27 years old, Langdon doesn't fill any need unless you're talking about the fact that he shares an inability to use the ball along with some others on our list. And pick 18? Go and look up the list of players taken at that pick. It's quality over quantity in this case. We're not a basket case anymore.

You're being too easy. Imagine what Essendon would ask for? If this is real, we need to take a hard stance.

Hey we can ask for the world and I hope we do but I'd also be willing to settle eventually. Maybe 1 quality piece is more important than finding multiple options but I'm yet to see what the very high quality piece in the deal would be unless they give us a top 5 pick and enough to get May.

I think where we disagree is on Hogan's potential to be a generational player. I haven't felt that way about his since his first year. Whether that's injuries, confidence or personal issues or not I'm not seeing it.

Santa Claus is a myth but don't tell anyone.

Club loyalty is dying as well.

These players have 10 years top to deliver what should set them up for the rest of their lives if they are good enough.

For those who believe it will all be fixed if Jessie signs on look no further than Mitch McGovern. Is at the end of the first year of a 3 year deal and wants out and will most likely get to his destination club. The only advantage is the club has currency and that is why MFC may well be best served now rather than at the end of 2019.

All will be revealed eventually

Club loyalty is dying as we have 1 player just playing his first final after 12 years on our list. While Tom McDonald signed a new long term deal to stay at the club. Gawn and Viney won't leave the club. The idea of premierships (the thing they all play for) keeps people at clubs. Always has and always will.

That's one of the worst hypotheticals I've heard and I'd be mortified if we were to entertain anything close to that.

Langdon? I really don't understand the crush many have on him. Yeh he's quick, cool. But he is far from classy and he doesn't use the ball well. Two things we are dying for.

The only way we'll allow Hogan to leave this year is if we end up with a sweet arse deal.

And the deal you've just outlined is hideous.

Langdon is a butcher. I'd prefer Hunt and that's saying something, because his kicking is ordinary too.

Well firstly Zac Langdon is a former 56 draft pick. He wasn't injured in his draft year. That means there are knocks on him and if you watch him, you'll see there are.

Hogan would have gone 1 or 2 in his draft year if not for the mini draft but he is clearly more valuable than that given his output to date.

Two first round picks in exchange for hogan and a pick would be ideal.

We exchange the worse one for May and maybe bundle a third rounder to get a second round pick back. And we hit the draft with the other unless we have something else in mind.

Simples.

We get May and head to the draft with a top 10 pick as well as a second rounder.

I'd do that but spend the first rounder on a ready-made (Shiel, Whitfield, Kelly or Gaff-type). We don't need another draft pick.

I don't want Hogan to stay next year unless he signs a long term contract before pre season as all we are going to hear until the end of next season from the media is about whether he will stay or go, had enuff of this crap already.

Who cares it's all fugazi. Didn't hurt Hawks in 2013. Didn't hurt Tigers last year. Won't impact the teams performance so who cares?

Why not a Jesse Hogan trade to West Coast? Why is the thread exclusive to Freo? I reckon Jesse would take 200K unders to go to a successful club and JK is not getting any younger.

Just spitballing and i'll confess my complete ignorance to trade discussion, so please correct any glaring errors.

West Coast gain 800K in their cap from Gaff and the salary 350-400k? from Lycett combined leaving.

Could it be a situation where they agree to not match Gaff, they pay a frontloaded part of Gaff's salary to ensure he ends up in Demon colours and our cap is not compromised, say 150k per year off a 1million per year 5 year contract. They get Hogan on a backloaded contract and the compensation pick from the AFL for Gaff (if any?) and we get their 2018 1st Pick + 2nd (or player instead) and 2019 first round pick. We then give pick 17, a second round pick and Frost and potentially Tyson to Gold Coast for S. May.  We get Gaff, May & 2019 WCE first round pick.

Obviously not an exact trade would go down, but something complex that could make it happen. West Coast make a godfather offer (what they have) to get Hogan, GCS accept unders so long as they get players and picks.

I await ridicule!

Tom Boyd? Buddy? Roughead? Riewodlt? Kennedy? Lynch? Patton/Cameron and the list goes on

every one of them $1M plus

Sure they are not the panacea of three years ago but a key forward is where the big money's at.

Why would you be one of three when you can be the big Cohuna elsewhere.

The anomaly is Joe Daniher... rumored to have signed for around $660k.. why I'm not sure

What would Geelong pay for a forward come 2020

Maybe in a few years, but Weideman is not commanding a million bucks this time next year, I don't care how well he plays.

Btw Roughead, Riewoldt, Kennedy, Patton, Cameron are not on a million and Boyd was severely overpaid.

Not sure I understand why anyone would prefer WC went after Hogan. Am I missing something? Their first draft pick is 18 or 19 after FA compo for Lynch. Fremantle could have 4 and 6!

It'd be 10x worse than when Howe [censored] us over by choosing Collingwood over Gold Coast, a trade we ended up bent over a barrel (boy the Pies must be laughing now).

Were you responding to me about WC/Hogan? The only premise is that they manage to get Gaff to us through some creative accounting, we make sure they get Hogan, (win/win) and then we use everything they can give us for Hogan in order to get Steven May and a leftover draft pick. Gaff & May is a win to me.

Totally different situation, McGovern feels slighted after being hoodwinked by his club.

Jesse has had nothing but love from the Dees.

Maybe because of our recent success in the draft i'm more on board getting two top 10 picks and drafting some good kids over getting May.

Before you say kids don't win flags. The rising star is playing in a GF alongside two first year players at the eagles.

I'd like to remind posters that we gave up two first round picks for Lever.

Think about this for a minute.

Hogan has a greater body of work than Lever. He also has good knees.

It's two first rounders min, and we better stick fat if this entire shambles is true.

Lever cost us pick 10 and pick 15 or maybe 16 (after FA compo and Academy/FS matching), plus a swap of late picks. We got a bargain IMO.

Hogan may not have a bad knee but he missed a whole year due to bad back and now he has issues with foot nav bone, which is nothing to sneeze at.

For Hogan I think we'd more likely get a high first rounder (6) and maybe a future 1st rounder, or if pushed, a player such as Langdon. But it wouldnt surprise me if it was a1st and 2nd rounder only.

I think I am too. This draft is a beauty and Im confident there is scope for a ready made mid to be taken.

While May would be good there is something about it not quite gelling with me.

Hogan will not go to West Coast. He was a die hard Docker as a youth, that I believe is a large part of his motivation for going there. Look at how much Harmes loves us. Same thing!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
