Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

True, but if I compare the 2 coaches the decision is easy.

Nope - still impossible for me - both horrible.

I will give Roughead >>> Selwood though

It's not as far fetched as you think, Geelong overtaking us on %. See below scenario:

MELBOURNE (13 wins - 9 losses)

Vs Sydney - 100 - 80 win

V's WCE - 80 -100 loss

V's GWS - 80-100 loss

Final percentage - 126.59

GEELONG (13-9)

V's Haw - 80-100 loss

V's Freo - 150 - 70 win

V's GC - 150 - 40 win

FInal percentage - 126.84

Do you seriousluy want to rely on Freo and GC to put in competetitve efforts at GHMBA stadium when both clubs have already put the cue in the rack? It's better that Geelong win this week and put Hawthorn in jeopardy.

Id rather it come down to Gee % than Syd beating Haw in the last round for us to make it.

IMO the most likely safe path to the 8 with 13 wins:

R21: MFC d Syd
R21: Geel d Haw
R22: Ade d Nth

Then North and the loser of Sydney and Hawthorn in the last round cannot make it no matter what else  happens in R22 and 23.

Haw can still loose to syd in that scenario and still make it. Its the Adel v Nth game that will decide our fate if we loose the last 2.

Yes they can if Sydney also lose to GWS, but they can't make it ahead of us which is the key point.  I should have said the loser of Sydney v Hawthorn cannot finish ahead of us.

Adelaide d North is key I agree

Well I'm glad we've cleared all this up ?

I am now in the "we need to win 2 games to make finals" camp. so I will not be celebrating too hard on Sunday night even if us and the Hawks win. although I will get pretty drunk id say, but a more reasoned, respectable drunk

That there are so many interesting games in this round demonstrates exactly why the AFL should not predetermine the Friday night participants so far ahead.

The difficulties of fixturing are appreciated but at least the last four rounds could be left until a bit later so that we don’t have to put up with Friday night games like Essendon v St Kilda as we must do tonight.

if Channel 7 had the sort of influence over fixturing that some (well SWYL to be precise) say then they would have used that influence to have floating fixtures to maximise the likelihood Friday nights were corkers.

i suspect the AFL will move to floating Fridays night soon enough as ratings are an important barometer for the AFL - though you wouldn't think it given their stoopid choices this year.

Much in as much as i dislike Hawks, last weeks result was indicative of everything possible was done by AFL to get a different result. They don't want Hawks, North or Swans anymore. They want Cats, TWSNBN and lowly GWS(taking the place of Syd) in the Eight.

They probably realized that Footscray and Richmond's success in the last two years self generated big membership increases anyway, so that brings us MFC in as well. Hope so.......

Given Geelong's average differential is less than 16 points, I can't see them winning their last two games by 80 and 110 points respectively,

The Cats have won 6 or their 7 matches at K Park by an average .of 30 points.

Fair enough.

I guess Freo might provide half a contest (particularly if Fyfe's back) and keep the margin to 8-10 goals.

It's the GC game I'm really worried about. They are so un-competitive at the moment.

Wasn't it only a couple of weeks ago that Christian said it was ok to bump a guy after he disposes of the ball as long as the ball's still within 5 metres?

That wasn't within 5 metres. Clearly the ball was gone from the contest. Perfect bump, just a second or more too late. 1 week, maybe 2.

Not so sure about that.  If he gets him in the head, which I believe he did, then it's hardly a perfect bump.

That was a careless and dangerous bump. Talk is about did his head hit the shoulder or did the head hit the ground. Irrelevant. The bump caused the hit. That was as dangerous as a punch but I doubt will get the same press, revulsion, or weeks.

And not even a free kick. StK gets the free kick and a goal. That was poor all around.

Protect the head?.... an empty commitment.

It was a free kick downfield and advantage to Essendon, who scored a behind.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
