Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I would say this was our best win of the season so far. We withstood tremendous pressure early on, took control and fought off their late charge at the finish. I was very impressed with Frost and his  speed and ability to always be at the contest. Made Walker look like a second rate hack and that free against him late was a joke.

Agree with this.

Undermanned (Viney, Lever, Hibberd), coming off last week’s gut-wrenching loss, against a desperate side in form at home and close to full strength (although Seedsman injury helped), 20 points down in first half, clawing our way back, having the balls to pull the trigger in the 3rd and then stack the defence in the last - in the wet - Sydney-style and guts out a win!

A great test of the character and mental strength of this group of players, who are maturing before our eyes. Well done, Demons.

It's a bit sad some on here only seem to be able to post about the negatives. in fact there is one frequently negative poster who seems hasn't been able to come on here at all and post about one of the best wins of the season.

We HAD to win. It was ugly at times and a little too close, but the job got done.

Winning is what it’s all about

Indeed we did. And so did Adelaide, which makes the win even more meritorious.

Ahhhhhhhh, I have a single odd habit that seems to only come out at the end of excruciating close games of football. One, single, clap. I did it once at a bar years ago and the bar went quiet for a moment. I'm not a big or noisy person in general, but give me 20 minutes of tension and somehow it all comes out in one single gesture.

The other big occasion I recall doing it to the surprise of everyone around me was the win at the end of the season, against Essendon, in 2005. There's a distinct resemblence.

Anyway, the Demons march on, winning a game against a respectable opponent that had studied us closely and played the right way to stifle us, and we had a couple of players out of sorts a bit. But we still won.

I would like to thank Don Pyke for his help winning the game.

In exactly the same way as the Alice Springs game, he changes nothing.  Kick down the wings and get it to Tex and Jenkins.

Then to top it off with barely a kick or two in the match and a couple of minutes, he leaves Cheney as an extra man in defence, and lets Bayley Fritsch do the same for us.   Obviously didn't want to win the game, just trying to stop us scoring.

Great point George

That last quarter requires some analysis from both sides though perhaps some latitude can be shown given the rain and the apparent wind.

Not having a sweeper back cost us that first goal (may have been the second) in the final quarter.

Great win and onto next week to consolidate.

Agree . I was devastated last week but today was an amazing win. Still think next year will be the year but just making the eight would be a big step. Keep it up chaps!

Yeah, I said to my old man last night in the third that our performance was really reminiscent of the old Sydney. Grind it out and slowly work your way on top, despite not playing your best footy.

It was a really mature performance in the second half and it's exciting. Clarry really stood up too.

Agree AF they did grind it out, stopped the Crows from scoring in the second whilst kicking critical goals to get us back in the game, then went on the rampage in the third and then steadied and contested every ball to hang onto a hard fought win. it was hard to watch, i found it very stressful but loved every minute of that last quarter.

Go Dee's................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were pretty outclassed in the first half but kept getting the goal to keep in touch. Our third quarter was cracking, the last seemed more like we tried to do the right things from the start of the quarter and try and save it. Needed more offensive threat especially early as we allowed crows to dictate. Swung it a bit too far the other way this week.

great win, good teams win when they don’t play that well, but to do it interstate vs a team that needed the win to stay in touch was huge!

How overrated is Tex? Give me Tim Smith any day lol

He is not overrated, but I think he is still having a sook about the GF, and lever leaving, he has became a  cancer. He came back in bad shape from the off season.

Yes I did. Your posts don't exactly read like you're happy, do they?

I don't understand why you would come on here and only post about the 10 shots against in the last quarter, given the magnitude of the win otherwise.

What aspects of the game, other than the result, did you enjoy?

I couldn't care less what you think about my happiness or otherwise.

I was glad for the win on an interstate deck (as I said) but as always with Melbourne it comes with caveats. What would your position be if we had lost? For the second time like that in two weeks? The fact that we won doesn't paper over the cracks for me like it clearly does for you.

We have had a porous defence for 2 years now and I don't see much change in our ability to stop oppo's scoring when there get the ball in their fwd 50. So much for 'we have learned a lot from last week'. Unless you are 12 yo you would have heard that sort of thing 1 million times from melbourne teams. We keep repeating the same mistakes. Our lack of composure at critical times can be infuriating. And if we make finals that will be deadly.

Sorry dis i miss something- what free kick?

By the by i love the fresh air TMac gives Spargo when Spargo tried to gibe him a high five. Ignores him completely and Spartacus ends up lamely tapping his body.

You know that free kick they give to other teams for the front on interference, but not to us

Someone needs to make a montage of every time James Brayshaw said "Milera's been brilliant tonight"

Every bloody time he went near the ball!

Was getting very upset with Brayshaw. His commentary was SO biased towards Adelaide until it was unwinnable then started to say complimentary things about Melbourne. Why not just commentate on what you see in front of you without biase. Channel 7 of course take the cake. Every time I hear  Ling's voice I cringe.

What about Luke Darcy? That guy has to be the most inaccurate caller going round.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
