Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Why not make trade period last 6 weeks and send them all to Finland with no media contact for all but the last 2 days. Give them copies of Notting Hill, Shawshank Redemption, 4 Weddings, Pretty Woman and My Big Fat Greek Wedding to fill their 'valuable' time

include 'Steel Magnolias' and they would finish all the trades in the first half a day.

bit of word around clubs may consider Mumford as a playing assistant/ ruck depth next year.

Given Spencer is off our list now I don’t think it’d be the worst idea ever

Isn't he retiring because his body is stuffed?

He’s done a medical and the giants retaining him depends on the results. He certainly won’t be their number 1 ruck if he isn’t in top shape but he might still be a super handy backup/ coach

Trading places would be a better movie :) Edduie Murphy would show a thing or to. Knock a few idiot Journos out anyway.

From a mate of his, he's not completely cooked. GWS have really talked up the injuries so that his salary next year is paid by insurance rather than the club. They are up to their eyeballs and need the salary cap relief.

Doesn't matter whether GWS or the insurance pays his salary it still falls under the same cap

Highlights the nature of the sausage factory.

Its only a few who go on, the elite players and those who bring value or versatility.

If it was your son being drafted, you would make sure the boy was developing his skills and future away from AFL.

Like most professional sports these days, it has become a dog eat dog world.

Something to be said about not giving up your day job, and why famous old coaches like Smith, Kennedy, Parkin etc insisted that players had day jobs or were studying.

Too true. Interesting seeing the actual numbers. I’m pretty sure a less than 10% success rate would be way below the industry wide average.

Also pretty sure our strike rate is going to be a lot better in this rebuild.

I doubt it would be as easy as ‘GWS talking up the injuries’ for an insurance company to pay out a players contract.

He played like he is completely cooked this year. Still has had an outstanding career. Obviously the Giants want the salary cap relief but watching him play this year I thought he was cooked.

So what you are suggesting is Barrett knows of a spud who will be going to a team as a role player, but will end up being a on 'penalty rates' (above their pay grade).  Isn't this Motlop to Adelaide?

BINGO - we have a winner! Congratulations, your prize is in the mail. (hint - it's a glossy pamphlet)

The trade period should be 3 days. So far .....nothing. For goodness sake, each club knows what it wants and needs, so get it done. If it was 3 days, all the crap would be done and the trades would be getting hammered out. AFL is getting more like the Bold and the Beautiful each day.

I wonder why I have started getting into the NRL.

The trade period is enough to make you start following another code more?

Seems a slight overreaction in the grand scheme of things ...

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
