  1. I think Selwyn deserves some credit after the Adelaide Sojourn He was able to prepare the side for 2 games in 5 days in hostile conditions. Burgess taught him well Well Played Mr Griffiths

  2. Not such a good morning, weather wise. As I arrived, it starting raining, settled into watching some Victory players have a kick around. The MFC squad come out as the rain abated, they had wide smiles as the walked down the roped corridor. Plenty of joy from the supporters towards them, kids everywhere, maybe about 500 to a 1000 of us. Rehab/light duties, Hunter, BBB, TMac, McAdam, Bowey, Chandler, Melky, Sestan, AMW, Spargo, Turner. Chandler was doing enough running to suggest he will be right. I expected Hunter to be in the main group, must have had a setback. Looks like they are working on the fitness of Sestan. BBB and TMac are managed, no obvious hindrances, and the easy recovery run is usual for them. A surprise with AMW, just as we were suggesting he is nearly ready, he goes into rehab. I couldn't tell what the problem was. No Hore. They split into three stations, short kicking, a kind of soccer competition of kicking the ball down the field with finesse from outside the line, and a structured handball game. Down came the rain again for 5 minutes and then cleared. They did some structured sims. Coaches would move the ball from the forward line and set a high mark for a backman who would slingshot it off via spread and/or corridor it with links, to either a marking forward or to a forward that brings the ball front and centre. may was moving well. They had a couple of meetings in the middle. Finally, they head to the boundary for extensive signings. Great atmosphere.

  3. Casey played a praccy match against Carlton at Princes Park on Friday evening. Lachie Hunter played and Taj got some more miles into his legs after his brief Adelaide cameo on Thursday night. Sestan not playing. Well done to Max, Rick and Petts for turning up in the cold gloom to support the lads in a “crowd” that was comfortably outnumbered by the players on the field. Kynan Brown was excellent, as too was the Kolt. Taj and Bill were also good.

  5. I heard a funny story about when Scott was appointed. He was meeting one of the coterie groups and the head of the coterie asked for Scott's mobile number. Scott said "what for?" And the coterie guy said "oh i always have the coach's mobile number" "Not this f**ing coach you don't" came the reply Coterie man was shocked 😲 The coterie groups have always had way too much power at bomberland The club is hamstrung by their glory days, powerful supporters and an inbred mentality Long may it continue

  6. Spargo and Turner were in rehab group but didn’t do much. AMW told me he hopes to play this week. Also said he thought we would challenge Kossie’s ban.

  7. Seemed to be quite a light session. Wouldn’t rule out those not completing a full session. spoke to Maysie, he admitted his body was fairly sore. Incredible that he is playing through that much pain. a kid asked Oliver if he was playing this week. He was taken aback by it. As if he had no idea why he’d be asked the question. So, I assume we can lock him in. one whack for the Club though - there was a designated 10 + year members area. It wouldn’t have been in a worse spot. On a slope with little vantage at all. At the end, when plyers came to sign, Max didn’t even make his way over to that area. Given that it was described as an exclusive area for our loyalist members, it seemed that MFC staff had no coordination of what was going on. WCW, the snags were beautifully cooked.

  8. Agree SWYL it was nice to see him walking the full length of AO with Goody and Max on Thursday night and then in the rooms talking casually with the players, he’s doing a great job.

  9. Great job MFC. The players stuck around for a while to sign autographs and take selfies. Plenty of happy faces after that. Thanks to the Demon Army for their tireless efforts in the sausage sizzle, much appreciated!

  10. Billings would be the obvious one, but having watched the replay he was much better than many suggested i thought. He was knocked for not being strong enough in the contest, but that's not his go (as the club was well aware when trading him in) and made a couple of strong tackles. I think it can be hard to assess pperformance n the role billings is playing, given it it involves so much unrewarded running and the chance if being stuck on the dead side of the ground.

  12. The weather forecast will likely put some folks off attending *cough* soft as melted butter *cough* 😅 Come and enjoy the winning vibes regardless of the weather! And if it is cold and wet, what better way to warm up than with a hot snag (with or without onions) in bread? Answer: there is no better way 😃 Show our players how proud you are of them (coz you are proud of them, right?) and enjoy the company of other Dees peeps. See you there!!! ❤️💙👊🏼❤️💙

  13. It didn't take long for them to lose 'The Edge' Decided to check out bf! Thought I wold drop by and share their comments: Gather round sucks! This team is trash. Make a statement at selection. Embarrassing. I ******* hate being a fan of the most pathetic club in the competition. And now hopefully people see why Scott said it’s an 8 year plan and not 3 or whatever. Essendon Edge? More like Essendon lay down and die. Amazing example of an arrogant upstart team coming in and thinking ‘if we do what we do, we don’t have to worry about the opposition’, and the getting absolutely ****ing smashed for their hubris and naivety. absolutely owned. outworked and outclassed. Finally, it feels like a normal season again. Was feeling a bit weird there for a hot minute. Every year it's the same s**t. We knock off dawks, norf, etc Maybe have a "breakout" win against 'aints or whoever, have a chance to make a statement (even if we don't win) and what happens. We s**t the bed. No composure when we had the ball and no pressure when we didn’t. Is draper undroppable ? The hype around this bloke is ******* hysterical Parish … 6 years for a bloke we don’t need. Fair to say its the same stuff with this group - against the big clubs/games & adversity(interstate away games) we are soft, weak & unskillful. There are no positives to that game. None. Zero. … Need to burn the entire list and start again post Dodo. We have no speed, no skills, no grunt, no winners …Same s**t, different year. Kinda tempted to have an all time melt but don’t have the energy for this s**t anymore. We undid every positive from the first 3 rounds. Lots of work to even cement ourselves as a mid table team. Get someone from the Melbourne Storm to teach those soft pretty boys how to tackle for a start. Our style is flat track bullies. Calling it, season over. Huge% loss tonight. Now an uncompetitive 82%. i am essenDONE Need more AFL lifestyle The Understatement A bit s**t A hint of optimism: Need to put this behind us as quick as possible and use it as a reality check. My Favourite: Oh well, where was the Edge? They lied, we were on the Edge of a cliff! Can't agree with this comment: Cats V Power GF, calling it now. I had the Dees in the GF before the season even started. Stand by that. Don't care who we play, probably GWS. My wish for Ess is not to be stuck at the bottom of the ladder as they would reap early draft picks. My wish is for them to be forever stuck in the wilderness of a mid tier team. Hoping like hell that Collingwood join them there for a long time to come!! Enjoy the season D'landers. It will be a very good one.

  20. For three years they have gotten away with their dead ball gameplan whenever they're threatened. It is putrid football and Carlton does the same thing. It doesn't work without good ball users which they have. But if you stop their outside runners and in particular Daicos as Hawks did to some degree tonight, you can beat them. Hawks should have won that and would be hitting themselves over throwing that away. I reckon Pies are in for a rude awakening when they play GWS, Melbourne, and even GC.

  25. Hard to tell what the group is but Melk, BBB, AMW, McAdam, Bowey, Hunter are off to the side staying warm kicking to each other. Sestan doing strides on the boundary. Apart from Sestan, the rest of the above boys have just left the field.

  26. Yes, you should’ve! I’m always happy to meet fellow DL-ers ❤️💙 Thank you for supporting us this morning, very much appreciated. The same goes to everyone else who came to sample our fare. We did really well, so much better than we expected given the weather forecast. Even the couple of random showers didn’t deter folks in the queue… Dees fans are made of tough stuff 👊🏼

  30. Shocking spot to stand, had my daughter on my shoulders for a bit and gave up and moved to the punt road wing. Bowzer had the red top on, someone asked him about the shoulder, said he was about halfway through rehab, 4 weeks from playing.

  37. The Cats will have a season like the many between 2011 and 2022. Scott is a fantastic coach and will move the chess pieces each round to get the needed wins. Their list management is also first class. But their stars are just too old. They’ll be 5-0 after next week but could easily be 6-4 or 5-5 after round 10. Scott will get them 13-15 wins this year but they’ll be shown up in finals. He’s buying time to reinvigorate the team with some free agency pick ups to have another crack. Here’s to hoping they can’t get any before Cameron, Dangerfield, and Hawkins retire.

  42. I very briefly worked for Cotton On, and aside from it being a horrible place to work, the highlight was being in a meeting with David Wojcinski, and pretending I didn’t know he was a former footballer. I casually said in a meeting, in front of 20 coworkers, ‘I just googled you, and the first thing that came up said you broke the jaw of some 17 year old kid called Jack Viney’. It was one of my career highlights.

  44. He didn’t lift his elbow.. he raised and stiffened his shoulder for the impending contact. In that motion, the elbow stays parallel to the body while moving up. Lifting of the elbow suggests he raised his elbow out and away from his body (on a 45-90 angle), which did not happen. If he doesn’t brace his shoulder as he did, he exposes his rig cage to injury and leaves his arm/shoulder loose, leaving himself open to injury.

  46. No, being tough is standing on a former teammate’s head, while he is defenceless lying on the ground. The 8 weeks he got for that disgusting act was not nearly enough. Dermie always has far too much to say and has verbal diarrhea.

  48. This poster from Bomberblitz at least has a sense of humour: Just after half time I was having a conversation with Mrs hambo about a house we had recently bid on and missed. Turns out the top bidders have dubious finance and may not come through with the money meaning that it may fall to us. This distracted me from the footy but also from my glass of red wine which I knocked making it rock side to side and spill wine on the table and rug. I then rectified the situation by grabbing from another direction with the other hand. Unfortunately this exaggerated the rocking effect and more wine fell on the floor, my shirt and the couch. I countered with a big catch which didn’t go so well and I smacked the glass into the wall and now have red wine and broken glass absolutely everywhere. who played it better? hambo? Essendon?
