Only seen the stats sheet that James Harmes kicked two goals today and was listed amoung the best players again. Continues his trend of solid, consistent good form this season. Really glad this bloke has been able to lift himself back to playing his best footy again and cement himself a position in the team at the moment, when he looked to be a bit on the margins a few years ago. Melbourne supporter who has had to battle work really hard to get where he is. Well done Harmsy, champion Demon through and through.

Ed Langdon obviously felt the need to claw back the possessions lost from last week's tag.

When an opponent seems to have a bit of momentum it’s efforts like Spargo’s that make it very hard for them to score against us. Not giving up on the play after one tackle he quickly puts on another one and just made Membrey rush the kick forward early in the last. Goes a long way to winning games and absolutely loving what this team is doing at the moment.

38 point win over an in-form and confident Sainters. I will take that result every day of the week. Some are disappointed that we didnt massacre them after a fast start but both teams played to win. Its not like they were ever gonna roll over and play dead. The lead was reduced to under 4 goals and we pulled away AGAIN. Last year we didnt exactly thrash every team either but look what the end result was. Today was a very good win.

I just love how little stress I feel watching footy these days. I expected us to do that today. My MFCSS is a thing of the past.

Sorry I haven't read the first 5 pages but just got back from the game.... Our first half was incredible. The Saints were clueless as to how to play us, they were stagnant, tried switching, tried short passing and in the end then they just kept bombing the ball into our fwd line. Our ability to cover the switch play was supreme. Our structure and system is so sound my heart rate didn't get above 50. I knew the Saints would come out after half time and try to move the ball quicker and through the corridor but it didn't matter. They kicked 2 goals to our 1 in the 3rd. Amazing performance and we are blessed to be watching such an outstanding team. Brayshaw, May, Langdon, Tracc, Brown, TMac, Spargo, Petty, Bowser, Viney, Lever, JJ and Jacko take a bow. I love youse all.

The Casey Demons have finished the game off with a comfortable win off the back of a great opening term in which they put the Southport Sharks to the sword and kept them scoreless. The visitors fought back and provided an excellent contest for the remainder of the game. Pity the powers that be decided to fixture a clash of times between the two Demon sides. Agree - I think the reason it was such as good win was because the opposition didn't throw in the towel. The margin in the end was pretty much accounted for by the dominant period we had in the first half. For the rest of the game it was an arm wrestle. Beltings require a certain compliance from the opposition. The reason we haven't dealt one out is because we haven't yet had an opponent offer up the requisite surrender. It will come.

I must admit I was worried for first25 seconds

I thought that was a complete performance. Another game where the opposition threw absolutely everything they had at us and fell well short.

On the telecast, Bucks was asked if Melb due for a loss. His reply was something to the effect of "definitely not!". Went on to say something to the effect he'd love to see the dees go through the season undefeated! I'm beginning to warm to the lad! Thought his comments throughout the game were insightful from the way a coach looks at how a game is unfolding...Good stuff!

One of the joys of being a top-of-the-table team is that we no longer get shunted off to the graveyard time slots and the consequences that has on those of us in far-flung time zones. After years of getting up at ungodly hours to watch our beloved Dees, we European-dwellers have been able to enjoy our wins at quite civilised hours. Until today. Setting the alarm for 4.45 a.m. brings back memories of the bad old days. Go Dees, he says through half-opened eyes.

Well that was a fun game to watch. So much to like and once we flexed our muscles in the 2nd quarter we just never looked like losing. Some individuals performance. McDonald: Congratulations on your 200th Tmac.. you've gone through the absolute pits of hell to now a premiership player. Today he played a fantastic game and stamped himself into the team for the next month at least. Hunt: Time to start recognising this bloke on what a wonderful negating player he is. Completely shut down Shai Bolton few weeks back and then destroyed Jack Higgins today who's been in rare form. Important cog to our backline. Sparrow: An absolute brute who has genuine power to accelerate from stoppages but also tackle with such intent. All the hype is Petracca, Oliver and Gawn as the 3 that opposition will put time into but soon enough opposition clubs will be paying extra attention to Sparrow. Loving his development. Pickett: Little master. His left foot snap deep in the pocket was elite. May and Petty: Stopped everything that came their way. Petty particular gave away some questionable free kicks but he's seriously becoming a serious defender of the competition. His intercept marking and poise with the ball is impressive. Just needs good continuity now. Langdon: 2022 All Australian wingman. Enough said. Glad we smoked St Kilda. Cannot stand them one bit and I put them right next to the Western Bulldogs as little irrelevant clubs that are all huff and puff but are mentally soft when the heat gets turned up. Always trying to talk up a big game but they just fail year after year.

Side note: what was with the music being played after a goal? I hate it. So American and commercial. Have not heard it before today. Was it a Sunday game thing? Scrap it, and soon

I thought Buckley's comments re the role of Spargo,Neale Bullen, Sparrow & Kozzie in that he said the way they play their roles enable our team to function so well. I think he rated the pressure our smaller forwards put on the oppostionas the best in the AFL. Actually it is interesting to get this "coach" type analysis rather than the Media people like BT, Howie etc who only think Clarrie,Trac, Gawny and May are the only people who count.

One of the “symptoms” of how we’re travelling is that we have the best full back in the league and we’re barely talking about it. I’d say Steven May is in even better form than last year. He’s just an absolute monster. Obviously he’s fast, strong and tough, but he’s also smart and skilled. For the number of contests he gets in, he hardly ever gives away a free kick. I’m seriously in awe.

I just watched the replay and aside from the fact we are a very good side I love seeing Jack Viney play footy these days. He’s very comfortable with his role, and he seems genuinely happy and relaxed on field. It’s so great to see after what he’s been through.

I've got the latent Herpes inside me (see previous posts to make sense).... but in today's match I seriously felt - as per all the others this season- we seriously toy, if not, put the cue in the rack, against teams in the latter half of the match, 9. St Kilda's second half against Melbourne was the real deal Despite losing by 38 points, the Saints should be heartened by their effort against the reigning premiers. After trailing by nine goals to one, the Saints restricted the Dees to just five more goals for the game, while adding seven of their own. Against Melbourne’s much-vaunted midfield, St Kilda had more hitouts (31-25), clearances (30-29) and stoppage clearances (19-14). Melbourne was able to kick eight goals from stoppage, whereas St Kilda managed just two. And, the Saints will rue their efficiency inside 50, which was 36.4 percent, down on their season average of 50.7. This is from the AFL website...I had a big big chuckle.... Now I am not up in arms about how they choose to massage narratives for a larger agenda, but jeez, we're [censored] toying with teams. Personally I think it's to do with management of load, even within matches, rather than us not putting the foot on the throat, or not being ruthless...or whatever superficial cliche you can throw at us , when we want our team to overtly dominate our direct competitors in the top 4/8
