Give me a spell. I didn't name names. And I wasnt rude and I didn't take any pot shots. Unless you call the truth a pot shot. And frankly I'm heartily sick of posters spewing vitriol against my club after a loss. And then going silent after an impressive win. If you are gonna call out the club - repeatedly- after a loss then show some spine and put your hand up you might have got it wrong. It's the opposite of fair weather supporters.32 points

It's interesting that the vibe seems to be Lever had an average game. I thought he was terrific. He had 8 score involvements- only maxy, Billings and tracc had more. He also had 17 disposals and was part of a group effort that shut down lobb, naughton and weightman. He was a key to how well we transitioned from the back half.30 points

A moment needs to be taken, to try and comprehend playing Laurie and Spargo ahead of Billings last week30 points

Are you talking about the post game, on ground, interview with Sarah Jones @leave it to deever? I beg to differ. Clarry was the headline of the summer - like it or not. I think most of it was complete BS quite frankly - but it is what it is. Neither we, nor Clarry, can wish it away or pretend that millions of people aren't interested in Clarry's recent past. Sooner or later Clarry has to talk to the media. He's a superstar who generates clicks. I saw the interview as a positive. For example: Jones is a decent person who asked respectful questions about his summer Clarry answered the questions with dignity and honesty Max led, as usual, by riding shot-gun. Better Clarry re-enters the 'hyper pathologicalised' AFL world (yes, I'm talking about you Wilson, Cornes and Craig Fetishison) via Sarah Jones and Max than any other method IMHO.26 points

Billings was outstanding today and exactly what we’ve been looking for. His ability to link up plays was elite. It was of little surprise to find out he had something like 11 score involvements. Took 15 marks as well.25 points

Keen to hear the thoughts of those posters who practically wrote our season off and blasted the coach and players after our loss last week. Some remarkably definitive comments were made, given we were beaten on the home deck of a pretty good team that the bookies had as slight fav. You know who you are.25 points

Don’t write us off just yet. Absolutely rapt for T Mac and Brown. Jibba very very good today.24 points

You gave me your feedback and advice Moonshadow and i responded to it politely. I heard you. But with all due respect, I'll post what I want to post. I'm loving the win. I could not be more thrilled. And as you well know, having been, like me, a long term poster, whilst I have my faults, failing to be positive is not one of them. There is a certain level of irony in calling me out for being negative given how often over the last ten years I've been accused of being too positive about the club, blind to our faults and too ready to find 'excuses' (read reasons). And besides I wasnt being negative about the club. I was calling out the posters who make this forum difficult to engage with after a loss. And go missing after a win. And I did so in a pretty balanced manner I thought. I have some advice for you. Next time we lose, which of course will happen, jump on demonland and call out the usual suspects who pop up to wack the coach, team etc and think it's just grand to run the club into the ground. Perhaps give them some advice to rein their negativity in and be more positive.23 points

Can we gve some love to Marty Hore who retuned to the big stuff today and I thought performed well. Also well done to Ben Brown. The stats might say he didn't get it a lot but he led up beautifully and provided as target and a contest. I'm not sure it's because his knee may be pain free but he looked great. I thought Tommy was pretty good down half back. Rapt for Billings. I hope Claytons getting to a good spot because he hasn't lost his football ability. At the 3/4 time huddle I saw him go over and hug Gawn, he smartly passed that ball off in the final term and when he came off he had a huge smile on his face and embraced Goody. Oh and kudos to Cahndler to. At one point in the final half Richards we trying to get to Gawn and bump or block him and Chandler was stopping him from doing so.23 points

Also it’s a nice nostalgic feeling to kick a bunch of late unanswered goals against the dogs23 points

A win. Yippee. Well great comeback from our captain. Oliver well and truly back. Chandler some much needed signs of old. May absolutely rock solid down back. Nice game from Billings and Hore. The biggest take away for me was Bbbs performance. Didn't kill it but a very good serviceable game nonetheless. Our best tall fwd. Tmac pretty good down back. That's two key talls I had in all honesty pretty much written off. Im having some humble pie for dinner. Tx all.23 points

Just finishing off a little soiree at The Manor. Good night all round and enjoying lashings for desert. After a quick kip, your good old Uncle Bitter will be up and about to watch the Dees clean up the Doggies. The highlight for me today will be, Kozzie's return, Clarrie's improvement from last week's run and Max bouncing back. I'm also keen for Hore to go well - as I thought he was stiff when de listed. The Dogs are no mugs and if the Dees are a bit off it could be dangerous DEES by 27 points.19 points

Another under the radar but highly effective game by Nibbler. Gets little recognition but is a great contributor.18 points

Amazing how hope, faith and expectation return after a win. After pretending to be detached from footy and behaving like a wise and sensible adult trying to get through the Freud series on net flix ) I am reading DL, looking at stats and generally behaving like an excited kid. My Collingwood supporting wife already has head in hands and using profane language to describe my elevated mood. Amazing what an emotional game this is, and how irrational is our loyalty, prejudices and thought process..15 points

He had 20 kicks, he's only ever had more than 20 kicks once. Brilliant game. If he can have 10-15 kicks a week and spread the way he did today, he'll be an integral player for us.15 points

Was at game and didn't see interview but the highlight for me was seeing how happy he looks and the roar from the crowd when he ran off after setting up Roo's goal in the last. He could not wipe the smile from his face. ❤️💙15 points

Clarry was epic today. His disposal had an extra element today. I can’t remember a long high kick going forward…. TMac was surprisingly solid today. I had forgotten his defensive capabilities. Chandler was massive today. He may have kicked 3 goals, but it’s his defensive terrier like acts that make him impressive. He will have quiet days, but is always busy, defensive and a contributor. Howes will be a player. A less mobile BBB is better than Schache.15 points

A reminder that was the first time our 2021 draft class have all played together in the one game. Jason Taylor just doing his thing once again.13 points

He did; just before BBB gathered and baulked someone, broke a tackle and ran into an open goal. was expecting pigs to fly past on my way home.13 points

I was wrong about TMac,... thought he was slow, just think it's slow to turn, so having him down back isn't too bad, and was good by foot.13 points

Speak for yourself. Me and Clarry need 17 days indoors now to recover. It’s a good thing Bowey had a week off.12 points

Thought we played the moments very well. Controlled the game, though they missed some set shots that gave us back the momentum. The backs structure forced them to the wings where they got lost. We worked hard for each other, something about being selfless helps get and keep the vibe. Regularly backing up if mistakes made or were beaten. The first half had us with a functional forward line, marks taken and the Western got confused and guessing about how to play us in the second half. Quality game that the Western had trouble running out, by the end they were a step behind and had to chase us. Some great fighting for the ball occurred. We took our opportunities better then them. Loved that we were looking for fast ball movement down the corridors. Still some improvement, fumbley, body work when contesting the mark, tackling without touching the opposition's head. Well done Dees, a good win.12 points

I was coming on here to write something similar, he shows good skills, goes at the ball and the man and has elite speed. Once this kid gets 10 games under his belt he will go up a few notches, another pre season, a tank and some size and we have a real weapon in the making.12 points

First home game for 2024. A great 7 Goal win. A couple proved me wrong today and I am very glad. Now a week of good thoughts enjoy everyone.12 points

So great to see Clarry go straight to Goody and give him a massive hug.12 points

kudos to 2 of the favourite whipping boys. Seeing Tmac on the backline made me very nervous but watching him really closely at the game I thought he was fantastic. He made great decisions about when to play off and support other defenders and when to lock on one on one. I was expecting a howler or 3 with the ball, but his disposal was as good as any of the other defenders today, taking short and powerful kicks that hit the targets with 83% efficiency (according to the stats). also BBB - presented well, clunked a few, but used his gogogadget arms to get the ball to the ground in pretty much every contest he was involved in. both of them have bigger challenges ahead, but I was shocked we picked both this week after compromised pre-seasons, and I was wrong.11 points

Here’s a funny post-game comment from one of the Doggies’ forums: “There comes a time when a great coach realises the team needs a fresh voice. Where beverage is delivering yet another year on the relationship between Confucius - Ancient Teacup making and the Art of the Quilt, other coaches are actually driving the game forward.”10 points

BBB straightens us up for sure. Hopefully he can hold the fort for a couple of weeks as Petty builds some match fitness.10 points
